  • The candidate must be at least 18 years of age.

  • This position must have a high school diploma or GED.

  • The candidate must have five years of verifiable employment history; security experience is preferred.

  • The candidate must provide a copy of their local background check.

  • Must have the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing for the purpose of public interaction.

  • A neat and professional appearance is essential to this position.

  • This position requires the ability to handle typical and crisis situations efficiently and effectively on campus.

  • This position requires a valid North Carolina Drivers License.

``` - Maintain radio communication with campus security personnel.

  • This position will work shift work as needed and or assigned.

  • Provide a uniformed presence for the safety of students, employees and visitors.

  • Raise and lower the flag daily in all weather conditions.

  • Expedite traffic and traffic flow on campus.

  • Patrols and provides security for campus buildings and grounds and guards against crime, including theft and vandalism.

  • Investigates complaints and incidents according to established procedures.

  • Perform crowd control duties as necessary.

  • Check doors and windows for security; lock doors and turn out lights.

  • Watch for and report fire hazards and unsafe conditions to the proper authorities.

  • Assist police and other emergency responders as necessary.

  • Report unusual or suspicious occurrences.

  • Prepare incident electronic computerized reports, log calls received, and complete other record-keeping as required.

  • Respond to dispatcher and other requests for service.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

  • The position must be able to walk long distances and navigate several flights of stairs.

  • The above-mentioned duties are not all-inclusive, and additional duties may be assigned as needed to meet the needs of the department and the college.
