  • Associates degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering, Automation/Robotics Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering Technology, or a closely related field.

  • Three years of teaching and/or industry experience.

  • Ability to provide effective instruction in the following areas: digital and analog electronics, robotics, instrumentation, automation, computer-aided drafting and design, programmable logic controls, motors and controls, and electrical wiring.

  • Facilitate learner-centered, outcomes-based instruction.

  • Willingness to provide instruction to curriculum, continuing education, workforce training, or other students, which may be scheduled as day, evening, weekend, or online options.

  • Develop, maintain, and record student learning outcomes for courses and associated program(s).

  • Ability to use technology to deliver instruction.

  • Initiate, develop, and sustain business, education, and industry relationships to foster program growth and maintain alignment with industry needs.

  • A desire to participate in professional development activities, including those related to the use of critical thinking skills in instructional design and student development.

  • Maintain the annual budget for the program.

  • Willingness to participate in community service activities.

  • Willingness to participate in public school and university articulation, advisement, and recruitment programs of the College.

  • Commitment to the community college "open door" philosophy and the comprehensive community college concept.

  • Ability to carry out institutional effectiveness activities and participate in the life of the college (e.g., serve on committees, provide academic advisement, participate in activities).

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and management skills.

  • Must possess strong communication skills (oral and written) and demonstrate the interpersonal skills needed in a highly visible leadership role.

  • Knowledge of the mission and purpose of the NC Community College System.

  • Ability to stand, walk, or crouch on narrow, slippery, and erratically moving surfaces; stoop, kneel, and bend to pick up or move objects, office equipment, and furniture.

  • Ability to frequently lift and carry objects weighing 25 pounds and to occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.

  • Normal manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination; corrected hearing and vision to normal range.

  • Experience facilitating online instruction.

  • Experience working in an industrial environment with an understanding of electrical systems, computer controls, mechanical systems, hydraulics, and pneumatics in an integrated manufacturing system.

  • PMMI Certifications in Industrial Electricity I and PLC I, OSHA Instructor Certification, National Electrical Contractors license, Lean Six Sigma, and NCCER Instructor Certification.

Since producing learning is the primary function of the college, it is the principal responsibility of each instructional staff member to effectively and efficiently stimulate learning in every course. In addition, each instructional staff member should provide guidance to students through their role as an academic advisor and in more informal ways. Each staff member is expected to participate in the governance of the college through committees and divisional meetings, through shared leadership within and across divisions, and through personal recommendations to college administrators.

The successful candidate must begin work by September 1, 2022. Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications, experience, and the labor market. Excellent references from previous employers must be furnished upon request.

A completed Southeastern Community College application, a resume, a letter of interest addressing the requirements, and educational transcripts (unofficial copies of transcripts will be sufficient for the screening process, but official copies must be submitted prior to employment) must be submitted to the college Human Resources Office in order for applicants to be considered for this position.
