JOB DESCRIPTION

We are seeking a qualified Mainframe (COBOL) developer to join our development team. In this role, you will build and manage application enhancements for multiple complex strategic systems leveraged across our Personal Lines business. In this role, we are looking for an engineer with strong experience using Mainframe tools for design, development and testing.

In this role, you will:
Understand and translate business and functional requests into program/applications
Participate on project teams and effectively interact with business partners, vendor partners, Business Analysts, Architects, Quality Assurance specialists, and management
Design, code, test and implement application program code for both new and existing applications
Develop and execute test scenarios and test cases for unit, integration and system testing
Ability to produce concise and accurate documentation for projects
Ensure compliance with all Chubb standards and guidelines
Delivers quality solutions for both new and existing applications of varying complexity and scope while adhering to software development best practices; solutions are delivered in a timely manner, meeting or exceeding established SLA's or timelines
Adhere to project management methodology and standards
Adheres to ITIL processes and procedures for change, release and problem management following established best practices.
Research and evaluate alternative solutions and recommend the most efficient and cost effective solution for the systems design
Comply with architectural standards; re-use existing software structures where applicable
Take the lead on assignments and mentor/provide guidance to other staff members
Collaborate effectively across functional business, technical areas, and external vendors
Flexible and effective at multi-tasking
Participates in on-call production support of applications/platforms in multiple environments; escalates issues following procedures to minimize system downtime
Monitors operating efficiency of existing systems. Serves as subject matter expert with various tools, techniques and processes
Complies with all I/T policies, procedures and controls
