Howmet Aerospace 3D CORE ENGINEER - Research Center in Whitehall, Michigan

This 3D CORE ENGINEER position will be located in the Howmet Research Center in Whitehall, MI and will be responsible for ongoing development and implementation of the 3D core process, with focus on additive manufacturing aspects of the process as well as process control.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Collaborating with Howmet Morristown production operations to develop robust processes and enhancements on new and existing programs.

  • Working with Howmet Research Center Engineering in support of new development projects, both in Core Prototyping and Rapid Tooling departments where additive manufacturing is utilized

  • Running trials, characterizing, and documenting additive manufacturing processes within the Howmet Research Center Lab.

  • Advancing production manufacturing readiness levels on new projects (New Product Introduction)

  • Creating and leveraging best practices/standards, both as individual effort as well as within a team environment.

  • Evaluating and implementing new methods and processes to positively affect yields and part quality levels

BASIC REQUIREMENTS

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited institution.

  • A minimum of 2 years production experience working in an additive manufacturing environment.

  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Engineering from an accredited institution in the following disciplines preferred: Materials Science, Mechanical, Manufacturing, Engineering Technology, Chemical, or Aerospace.

  • Fluency with CAD software, preferably with Siemens NX.

  • Experience in additive manufacturing of resins in a production environment.

  • Experience in new process control development and product start ups

  • 3+ years of additive industry experience

  • Plastic injection molding experience

  • Experience with developing and applying new manufacturing processes and/or inspection methods

  • Experience in advanced inspection methods, such as structured light inspection or CT inspection

  • Project management experience

  • Good verbal communication skills.

  • Proven problem solving skills using sound fundamentals as well as history of trials/execution of improvements

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite software.

  • Ability to effectively work/communicate as part of a project team.

Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and activities.
