CNC Machine Operator - Entry Level

Whippany Actuation Systems is a dynamic aerospace company that designs and manufactures electromechanical actuators and control electronics for commercial and military applications. Recognized as experts in our industry for over 75 years, we are a fully integrated manufacturing company which takes responsibility for the success of our business and acts quickly to implement new ideas and projects to ensure company growth.

We are currently looking for an entry-level machinist who is searching for an opportunity to grow his or her skills. As a Machine Operator you will perform a variety of manual machining operations to support our Machine Shop which will provide you with the opportunity to excel as well as expand your knowledge and skills in machining. You would be working the day shift, Monday - Friday, 6am - 2:30pm, with overtime available.

In this role, you will typically:

  • Cut and maintain bar stock;
  • Deburr gears and other machined parts;
  • Perform various manual machining operations such as lapping, honing, drilling, and tapping

We require:

  • An ability to read and interpret blue prints;
  • Ability to deburr, cut bar stock, and polish;
  • Some knowledge of GD&T;
  • Authorization to work in the U.S.
  • Eligibility for any required authorizations from the US government, to conform with US export regulations and ITAR 120.15 and EAR Part 772.

Eligibility Requirements:

This role is restricted to U.S. persons (i.e., U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and other protected individuals under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)) due to access to export-controlled technology. Whippany Actuation Systems will require proof of status before employment.

We would really like to see:

  • Vocational training or certification
  • Previous experience in machine operation;
  • Demonstrated mechanical ability;
  • Ambition and the willingness to learn and excel;
  • Some knowledge of measuring equipment, such as micrometers or veneers

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs.
  • Ability to transport items to other work centers throughout the facility
  • Requires using hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools or controls
  • Requires exposure to hazardous equipment
  • Includes exposure to sounds and noise levels that are distracting or uncomfortable
  • Requires repetitive movement
  • Requires wearing common protective or safety equipment
  • Requires working indoors in environmentally controlled conditions
  • Requires ability to stand for long periods of time
