Associate Director Data Strategy Lead
YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Associate Director, Data Strategy Lead is a member of Bayer’s growing Data Management team supporting across all data and analytics function within commercial organization. The Data Strategy Lead collaborates with the cross functional teams to uncover data opportunities and to facilitate strategic decision-making. Incumbent will lead development and implementation of commercial data strategy in support of business stakeholders across business units and therapeutic areas. Contributing valuable perspective to key business decisions based on a comprehensive understanding of business challenges, the competitive environment, and opportunities as it relates to commercial data strategy and governance. Day-to-day responsibilities include:
• Create and maintain data landscape map across TAs & BUs to identify opportunities
• Understanding stakeholders’ key objectives, needs, and challenges
• Develop data strategy roadmap and priority for the organization
• Lead Data Council discussion on data priority, data quality and new data opportunities
• Market horizon scan on regularly basis for new data products and partners
• Enable data lab for exploration and data assessment
• Identify key quality measure for new data assets as part of data exploration
• Extracting valuable and actionable insights from datasets; identifying emerging trends
• Designing compelling stories within data that facilitate stakeholder decision-making
• Continuously looking for ways to measure and demonstrate the business value.
• Ensuring the data integrity is intact and trusted The position serves as a data strategy lead working in close collaboration with internal data specialist, customer business insight leads and data acquisition/contracting.
The primary responsibilities of this role, Associate Director Data Strategy Lead, are to:
Assess the current landscape of data practices and build a robust and comprehensive data strategy for our Oncology, Hematology, Cardiovascular and Renal and Women’s Health data that supports analytics and end-user reporting;
Facilitate data-driven decision making by ensuring data sources are aligned to business needs and readily available for analysis and reporting;
Develop and drive data agenda (goals, objectives, priorities and scope) for Franchises, Marketing, Field, Home Office, Medical, Business Insights, Reporting and Advance Analytics data needs;
Conduct high level mapping of available data sources, data domains, data flow and pipeline requirements;
Identify opportunities to utilize AI/ML in current data flow to drive efficiency;
Establish data standards, glossary definitions, knowledge graph and data catalog consistent across our data assets for analytic user consumption;
Design and build data consumption layer consistent across data domains for downstream analytics and reporting consumers;
Lead a team of data engineers and integration developers to create data pipelines and model new data sets into the data lakes and data warehousing systems;
Facilitate Data Council meetings on data priorities, issues and resolution;
Be responsible for market horizon scan on regular basis and educate stakeholders on new data products aligned to our internal data strategy;
Collaborate with senior business/Information Technology (IT) leadership to understand future requirements and direction of the business to chart out data strategy in support of customer centricity, digital transformation and business growth across all therapeutics areas;
Synthesize data and conduct analyses from multiple sources across key commercial functions (sales, marketing, patient services, market access) to identify patterns, segmentation, trends, root causes and opportunities;
Build, manage, and own relationships across functional areas to set the strategic direction for integrating solutions and datasets that can deliver data-based and analytically derived opportunities and insights;
Lead brand level data strategy efforts across the BUs by assessing and communicating the opportunities and challenges of moving forward into a better aligned and informed future;
Develop, implement and manage data contracting standards;
Anticipate future data needs and propose bold partnerships with various entities in the health care eco-system for innovative use of data to drive valuable insights;
Enable data acquisition process consisting of data transfer spec, business rules, quality, stewardship, governance and communication plans;
Partner with various teams like Commercial Strategy and Operations, Commercial Data Management, Patient Services and Managed Markets to understand and collect their data and enable federated access to the relevant data;
Use data discovery and data mining techniques to acquire data from different internal Vertex sources like the Master Data Management (MDM), Customer Relationship Management (CRM), Digital systems, sales and prescription and other similar data sources to help derive business value from the data;
Partner with and other enterprise data functions to drive the long-term development of commercial data infrastructure, including data, reporting, and analytics platforms.

Your success will be driven by your demonstration of our LIFE values. More specifically related to this position, Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:
At least 8 years of overall experience working within the U.S. Pharma or healthcare industry, developing data strategies for specialty products;
Understanding of logistics and distribution processes and Specialty Pharmacy data;
Experience in MDM, including customer, product master, affiliations, and hierarchy;
Expertise in Commercial business processes and data sets including Sales operations, Marketing, Patient Services and Markets, Syndicated Claims;
Good understanding of pharmaceutical industry regulations like GDPR, Securing patient data and other industry specific regulations;
Strong technical expertise regarding data models, database design, development, data mining and segmentation techniques;
Strong knowledge of and experience working with databases, SQL, data visualization tools and data warehousing design and implementation;
Understanding and experience of working with different enterprise wide data sets including master data (product, customer etc.) and transactional data (sales, CRM data etc.) and systems that maintain these data sets;
Strong data integration and Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) expertise;
Strong communication skills and ability to work and collaborate effectively in teams of different sizes;
Knowledge of cloud based, big data technologies.
Relevant experience working with Oncology, Cardiovascular and Renal, Women’s Health.
