Russell Nesbitt Services, Inc Pre-Employment Transition Services Instructor in Wheeling, West Virginia

Job description GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

This contracted, part-time position will function as the instructor for all pre-employment transition services (Pre-ETS) and Life Skills programs as defined by WV Division of Rehabilitation Services. This position will teach the established curricula and adapt as necessary to meet the needs of each student (ages 14 to 21). This position will maintain case notes for each student in each cohort per the expectations of WV Division of Rehabilitation Services.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelors degree in a special education field or:

Bachelors degree in a human services or education field with at least one (1) year of experience in teaching or assisting with students that have an intellectual or developmental disability, or; High school diploma or GED with two (2) years' experience serving students and/or clients with intellectual or developmental disabilities; Experience with teaching, co-teaching, or assisting in a classroom environment;

Successful completion of CIB background and Protective Services check required;

Current certification in CPR and First Aid or able to obtain within 60 days of hire;

Will be required to complete and maintain all RNS staff onboarding training;

Valid driver's license required;

Use of private or company owned vehicle may be required on behalf of RNS;

Demonstrated familiarity with inclusive workplace practices and terminology;

RESPONSIBILITIES & FUNCTIONS:

  1. Adapts the Pre-ETS curricula to the needs of each student to the best of their ability;

  2. Teaches the established life skills curriculum as directed by the Employment Services Manager and maintains case-notes on student performance;

  3. Coordinates with Employment Services Manager to schedule each cohort's schedule;

  4. Ensures that checklist of supplies is completed and communicates supply needs to Employment Services Manager in a timely fashion;

  5. Maintains case-notes on each student regarding behaviors, interactions, participation levels, and anything else deemed noteworthy;

  6. Reports any student behaviors or issues to the Employment Services Manager in a timely fashion and documents the occurrence(s) in the case-notes;

  7. Ensures that students are engaging in safe behavior during Pre-ETS courses and follows the RNS incident reporting procedures as needed.
