Job Coach

We are looking for individuals who are enthusiastic and understand the gratification of helping individuals who need assistance in learning how to become a viable candidate for employment. No two days are the same and every day you have a chance to make a difference in someone's life.

General Description:

Carries out the services of the WV Department of Rehabilitative Services (DRS) Supported Employment program by assisting clients to obtain and maintain employment that is consistent with their vocational goals.

Responsibilities:

  • Engages clients and establishes trusting, collaborative relationships directed toward the goal of competitive employment in community job settings with other workers who do not necessarily have disabilities.
  • Provides general information on how benefits (SSI/SSDI/Snap, etc.) may be affected by employment so the clients are able to make informed decisions about job opportunities.
  • Observes clients' vocational functioning
  • Models effective job development and job search activities for clients
  • Provides individualized follow-along support to assist clients in maintaining employment.
  • Provides education and support to worksites, which may include negotiating job accommodations.
  • Returns phone calls and reacts to situations in a timely manner.
  • Meets with employers regarding job loss or performance problems within 24 hours of being notified.
  • Provides individualized follow-along supports to assist clients in maintaining employment.
  • Writes job support plans with clients and disseminates employment opportunities according to client interests.
  • Participates in face-to-face meetings with WV DRS when requested to coordinate services for clients.
  • Incorporates input from family members, with permission of client.

Qualifications:

· Education minimum of an associates degree with 2 years' experience with working with individuals with disabilities or similar field.

· Experience working with people with severe mental illness, experience providing employment services, and knowledge of the work world are preferred.

· Successful completion of CIB background and Protective Services check required;

· Current certification in CPR and First Aid or able to obtain within 60 days of hire;

· Will be required to complete and maintain all RNS staff onboarding training;

· Valid driver's license required;

· Use of private or company owned vehicle may be required on behalf of RNS;

· Demonstrated familiarity with inclusive workplace practices and terminology;
