Welder C - Westwego, LA

This is a full-time, hourly level position.

Position Summary:

  • ADM is seeking a welder to repair inland river barges and boats at our American River Transportation Company (ARTCo) fleeting location in Westwego, LA.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Repair, cut and remove damaged steel

  • Fit new material and weld watertight

  • Various other welding and cutting projects

  • General labor and housekeeping

  • Report all injuries, illnesses, and near misses in a timely manner

  • Additional duties and responsibilities as required or requested

Job Requirements:

  • Must be able to use an oxygen/acetylene cutting torch to cut mild steel plate

  • Ability to work well independently as well as part of a team

  • Ability to work overtime as required; must allow for changes in assignment and priorities depending upon the identified needs of the operations

  • Welding certificate preferred, but not required

  • Promote the ADM Way and core Values

  • Must have a demonstrated history of safe work behavior and a sincere desire to follow and improve upon safety policies and procedures

  • Must have reliable transportation to and from work

  • Ability to work extended hours, evenings, weekends and Holidays

Physical Requirements:

  • Must pass a pre-employment physical, drug screening and Company human performance exam (physical ability test)

  • Standing for prolonged periods of time

  • Frequent heavy lifting

  • Prolonged periods of kneeling, bending and climbing stairs/ladders

  • Ability to work near or on large bodies of water, at various heights and in confined spaces

  • Must be able to work in all types of climates, including, but not limited to hot, cold, dusty, etc
