Job Description:

The Salvage Yard Laborer is responsible for performing various tasks related to the operation and maintenance of a salvage yard, including but not limited to sorting, processing, and moving materials, maintaining equipment and facilities, and providing support to other team members as needed. General clean-up is a regular task.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Sort and process materials, including ferrous and non-ferrous metals, tires, and batteries.
  • Assist in maintaining accurate inventory records and tracking the movement of materials.
  • Maintain equipment and facilities, including performing basic maintenance tasks and cleaning.
  • Provide support to other team members.
  • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations regarding salvage yard operations.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment, including enforcing safety protocols and ensuring that all employees are adhering to environmental regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
    • Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in a salvage yard or similar environment preferred, but not required.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and independently.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Familiarity with local, state, and federal regulations regarding salvage yards preferred.
  • Valid driver's license.

Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to work in various weather conditions.
