MTech Mechanical Pipefitting Apprentice - Rifle, CO in Westminster, Colorado

Position Title: Pipefitting Apprentice FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Department: Operations Date: 2024 Reports to: Crew Leader/Field Manager Location: Rifle, CO* Wage Range: $23-30/hr.

*While MTech has frequent work in Rifle, CO and the surrounding areas, the mountain office is located in Eagle, CO (Vail Valley). There may be occurrences when travel outside of Rifle is necessary to respond to customer requests in areas such as (but not limited to): Vail, Eagle, Aspen, Glenwood Springs, and Grand Junction.

Job Summary Perform entry level general pipefitting duties as required with supervision. Progress through the trade. Working hours are subject to change pending jobsite/shop schedules.

Essential Job Functions APPRENTICE 1 (0-12 months) Develop good working and safety habits. Understands terminology and the use of power and hand tools. Required to obtain the mandatory tools for Level 1. Attends all MTech Mechanical Apprenticeship training classes regularly and outside schooling if available. Has basic math skills. Attentive to instructions and assists the journeyman in all phases of work. Can document approximately 2,000 hours of employment. Perform laborer tasks including sweeping, cleaning, delivering, loading and unloading, etc. Regular and predictable attendance is expected in order to meet the requirements of this position Other duties as assigned

APPRENTICE 2 (12-24 months) All Apprentice 1 responsibilities plus: Read non-complex blueprints and detail drawings. Required to obtain the mandatory tools for Level 2. Has an understanding of simple heating and cooling systems. Can solder up to two inch copper tube. Have basic skills in the use of cutting torch and welding. Help install equipment. Document approximately 4,000 hours of employment. Other duties as assigned

APPRENTICE 3 (24-36 months) All Apprentice 1 & 2 responsibilities and: Understands and is able to read architectural, mechanical, electrical plans and their details. Can lay out and install small jobs with supervision. Can pipe hot water boiler per plans. Required to obtain the mandatory tools for Level 3 Can hook up hot and chilled water coils per plans. Able to solder up to four inch copper tube. Can document approximately 6,000 hours of employment. Other duties as assigned

APPRENTICE 4 (36-48 months) All Apprentice 1, 2 and 3 responsibilities plus: Application for certification at local jurisdiction as required, ie. Denver. Know heating and cooling design and complete all jobs per MTech Mechanical Technologies Group standards. Required to obtain the mandatory tools for Level 4 Can complete all jobs successfully in terms of labor and material budgets. Have a good understanding of piping systems and how they operate. Can document 8,000 hrs of employment. Upon graduation, obtain Denver Journeyman Steam Fitter and Gas Service Certificates. Support the total quality effort. Identify and respond to the needs of internal and external customers 100% of the time. Work within the guidelines of the safety and employee policy. Other duties as assigned.
