Position Summary

As a Quality Assurance Senior Engineer, you will be responsible for supervising and optimizing battery test lab and performance by utilizing Quality principles and tools and applying detailed knowledge of our battery processes, (product design, manufacturing equipment, quality systems) resolving manufacturing and design level technical problems. This role will also be responsible for sustaining and improving foundational quality competencies and capabilities to meet business objectives and enhance our brand image.

Responsibilities

Battery Test Lab Supervision

  • Manage the work of personnel engaged in performing routine and specialized battery testing in our test lab

  • Plan team objectives and initiatives to improve workflow and best practices

  • Provide advanced problem solving, troubleshooting, and interpretation/consultation, verification of quality and

  • test results

Operations Support

  • Participate and/or lead facility audits/assessments of manufacturing processes and quality systems noting gaps, and approving improvement plans for corrective actions

  • Participate and/or lead teams to remove roadblocks for teams related to improving materials, products, and equipment or cost savings

  • Support problem solving efforts that impact the quality/reliability of our products or prevent us from meeting our business objectives

Product Cycle Plan Support

  • Participate and/or lead others in applying quality principles to product cycle plan (PCP) projects bridging R&D and Engineering development into sustainable manufacturing operations

  • Facilitate the development and maintenance of all aspects of new project specifications including design intents, raw material specs, manufacturing instructions (MI), product drawings, work procedures and critical tooling

  • Champion project risk mitigation including product and process gate protocol (PPGP) & Springboard

Sourcing and Supply Support

  • Participate in and/or lead assessments for maintaining qualification of global suppliers of materials and products

  • Provide on-going supplier oversight and support including the development of scorecards and monitoring key metrics through our online system

  • Participate in/or lead as assigned efforts to qualify identified suppliers of raw materials and sourced products in support of the PCP

Commercial Support

  • Recommend improvements including new test capabilities and system level changes to our testing capability to assure effective surveillance

  • Process consumer product returns in a timely manner

  • Coordinate or lead efforts to understand and remedy internal and external customer complaints, through the Quality Feedback Report (QFR) process identifying and implementing root cause corrections to prevent recurrence

What we are looking for

  • Bachelor's degree in technical field or significant application experience

  • 3-6 years relevant work experience in a Quality oriented role such as Quality Engineer, Quality Assurance or Process Engineer

  • Analyze for root cause, solve problems and lead individuals and teams to do the same, and apply fundamental engineering and scientific principles to work assignments

  • Manage many projects and initiatives simultaneously and understand their interactions

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook

What we prefer

  • Computer programming experience within a technical test lab environment

  • Experience with Quality Management Systems in a high volume, mass-production environment

  • Six-sigma belt certification

  • Able to use software programs/technology: PEC, WinSPC, Infinity, Minitab
