DescriptionPSI, an Intertek Company, a leading provider of ATIC (Assurance, Testing, Inspection and Certification) Services, is looking for a Staff Engineer to join our Geotechnical Services Department of the Building and Construction team in Columbus, OH. Ranked #15 on the 2019 ENR list of Top 500 Design Firms, and with more than a hundred offices across North America, the building and construction team provides the architectural, engineering and construction (A/E/C) industry with a full suite of capabilities both in the lab and on site. From geotechnical engineering to testing, inspection and certification services to building sciences solutions, the company delivers Total Quality Assurance to the built environment. The Staff Engineer will support the Project Managers and Department Manager by overseeing the Field Subsurface Exploration Activities, perform Field Testing, and assist in Laboratory Testing and Classification of Soil and Rock samples. Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: *Determination of geotechnical subsurface materials to be used in preparation of geotechnical reports *Assist in the performance of field and laboratory work *Review and implementation of project specifications and contracts *Interface with clients Qualifications Essential Requirements and Qualifications *BS in Civil Engineering or related degree is required *1-2+ years of geotechnical engineering experience a plus *Experience with subsurface explorations for building and construction is desirable *E.I. certificate is desirable *Background in soil mechanics with knowledge of geotechnical analysis and laboratory testing of soil a plus. *Capable of conducting and supervising field exploration activities *Excellent communication and organizational skills are essential, both written and verbal *Ability to mentor and supervise technician and staff level personnel *Promote team success to deliver quality and on time Geotechnical Exploration Services to our clients *Proof of Clean Driving Record *Out-of-Town assignments with overnight travel required (up to 150 miles) Physical Requirements *Ability to lift, move, push and pull 30 to to 50 pounds frequently.
