Amazon Principal Technical Program Manager, Business Operations, Global Robotics Operations in Westborough, Massachusetts

Description

This is a global, highly visible role, and key member of the Mechatronics and Sustainable Packaging, Customer Experience (MSP CX) organization. As a Principal, you will be the MSP CX functional leader for strategy development, business planning, developing and implementing mechanisms to create efficiencies in reporting on robotics deployment projects across multiple and competing workstreams.

  • This detail-oriented leader will wear many hats, as a business liaison working across other teams at Amazon, and as a thought leader and business partner for MSP CX.

  • This leader will work closely across multiple leadership teams such as the MSP Product team, ACES, RME, Operations, and our partners from Finance, HR, Legal, and recruiting to ensure we structure, prioritize, and track programs that execute on our vision.

  • The candidate will shine in ambiguous situations, navigating between the details and big picture, and playing the primary role of owner of our organization’s most visible documents including: monthly and quarterly business reviews, annual operating plans, 3-year vision plans, and the supporting artifacts, including but not limited to Plan of Record, Capacity Planning for General Availability technologies, Resource planning and Resource management.

  • The candidate will partner with the leadership team to develop and drive operational processes (Business Reviews, Finance and Operations, Goal Management), technical programs (ability to understand complex technology-driven initiatives and programs), assist with communications programs (All-Teams meetings, newsletters, internal communications), and have a general ownership of the organization’s business cadence.

  • The ideal candidate influences successfully at all levels, thinks strategically, is a talented writer and a strong organizer, takes initiative, and operates effectively across many teams.

  • The candidate will possess a strong technical program management and process excellence background, will have demonstrated experience leading large, complex initiatives that involving multiple technologies, teams, and cross-functional processes.

  • The candidate sees around corners, is biased for action in ensuring the team is set up for success in achieving our goals, and earns trust with MSP CX team and other stakeholders.

  • You will leverage business acumen, leadership experience, technical skills, and influence over authority to promote alignment and deliver data driven results.

  • You will be asked to lead & manage high-level meetings and write executive reports for Sr. Leaders in Robotics and Tech Deployment organizations.

  • You must be able to thrive and succeed in an entrepreneurial environment, and not be hindered by ambiguity or competing priorities. This means you are not only able to develop and drive high-level strategic initiatives, but can also roll up your sleeves, dig in and get the job done.

  • You will anticipate bottlenecks, escalate effectively, anticipate and make trade-offs, and balance the business needs versus technical constraints. The ability to take large, complex projects, break them down into manageable pieces, develop functional specifications, and deliver them in a successful and timely manner is expected. Maturity, high judgment, negotiation skills, ability to influence, ability to employ scalable mechanisms, and leadership are essential to success in this role.

Key job responsibilities

• Prepare and drive weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual business updates and plans such as 3YP, OP1/OP2, QBR, MBR, WBR, staff meetings, etc. in partnership with management. Identify potential risks and opportunities, and surface insights to management to improve the health of the business

• Standardize and scale best practices and learnings across the organization

• Act as a business partner to the MSP CX leadership team, providing insights to help shape the strategy of the business

• Ensure implementation and execution of auditing and operating mechanisms, including tracking goals, escalations, forward looking program needs, review of VP+ documents

• Drive best practices in headcount planning and resource allocations. Ensure resource (budget and headcount) adherence across MSP CX

• Develop the Capacity Planning Program roadmap across the MSP CX Organization that can proactively scale to customer demand in the coming years. Work with operational stakeholders to drive execution to the plans. Highlight misses, direct appropriate closure actions within MSP CX

• Assist MSP CX Director in developing and delivering key communication to the broader organization including email, Town Hall meetings, newsletter content, etc. as it relates to WWTD business strategy and planning

• Align and execute agenda/topics for leadership offsite meetings

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering field, Economics, Data Analytics, or related field

  • 5- 7 years experience using data and metrics to drive improvements

  • 5-7 years experience developing program and portfolio strategy, drafting execution plans, and communicating results to senior leadership

  • Superior written and verbal communication skills and ability to succinctly and compellingly summarize key findings

  • Project Management Certification (PMP) and/or hands on experience leading complex and large-scale projects, ideally globally

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s in Business Administration (MBA), or a technical field

  • Able to work independently to develop and execute strategies with minimal supervision

  • Strong critical thinker

  • Exceptional people skills, with ability to calmly navigate rough waters and negotiate win-win solutions

  • Six Sigma Certification or at a minimum 3+ years of experience with Operational Excellence practices

  • Flexibility to travel up to 30%
