General Ledger Accountant

This position is responsible for performing assigned accounting and corporate tasks, including those related to month-end close, financial reporting and special projects as well as assisting with the external audit.               Responsibilities include: 

  • Prepare monthly financial statements in accordance with GAAP
  • Establish/Update and follow a check list and monthly close process
  • Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations to ensure all accounts are correct and auditable
  • Account for fixed assets and depreciation on a monthly basis
  • Prepares and analyzes both the work in process and over/under billed construction schedule each month
  • Review time and materials jobs each month to ensure work in process amounts are correct
  • Ensure matching of costs and revenue for jobs in the month
  • Prepare and analyze a monthly job margin report for the operations team
  • Presents financial information to accounting management team each month to ensure amounts are correct
  • Provides monthly financial data, variance analysis and ad hoc reporting
  • Assemble documentation for external audit
  • Prepares schedules for tax return
  • Assist in the reconciliation and settlement of intercompany balances across all locations.
  • Assist with lender and insurance audits

     

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance required.
  • Two to four years of experience in accounting/finance.
  • CPA designation and public accounting, manufacturing and/or construction experience preferred.
  • Intermediate excel skills required (Lookups, Pivots, etc.)
  • Read and analyze information to make rational, logical, fact-driven decisions.
  • Develop effective working relationships with people in various departments and at all levels of the organization across the company's locations.
  • Utilize appropriate communication methods to work with individuals across locations to take tasks to completion. Ask questions when clarification is needed.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including spelling and grammar
  • Ability to travel as required.
  • The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, able to proactively meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities at once.

Salary: $60,000-$80,000 per year
