SUMMER SCHOOL TEACHER Job Details Job ID:4583314 Application Deadline:Posted until filled Starting Date:Jul 2, 2024 Job Description The LPVEC has an opening for an elementary/ middle school special education teacher in our summer program. The summer program runs Monday - Friday from 9:00am - 2:00pm located at 174 Brush Hill in West Springfield. Starting July 2nd (with Holiday closing July 4 & 5th) until August 9, 2024. Provide academic instruction and behavior modification approaches in a highly structured, therapeutic day school setting. In a small class setting, the teacher will address the academic and emotional/behavior needs of the students set forth in their Individual Education Plan (IEP). Anticipate and plan appropriate interventions to avoid student behavior issues, and use therapeutic restraints when deemed necessary. Job Requirements Organizes and supervises services of paraprofessional staff, related service providers and consultants in the classroom. Valid teaching license in Moderate Needs (K-8) or 5-12 (We have two positions open) Understanding of special education law and its implementation Evidence of successful experience with students in substantially separate educational programs Training and experience in educational theory and practice for students with social and emotional disabilities At least 2 year(s) of relevant experience preferred.
