Hillside Family of Agencies Direct Support Professional I in West Seneca, New York

We have a tremendous opportunities for Direct Support Professional's at our West Seneca location. Various shifts are available. We are offering a $1,000 Sign On Bonus for this position!

As a Direct Support Professional (DSP), you would be responsible for assisting in the care and treatment of individuals supported by our programs and Agency. You will help to establish a safe physical and emotional environment and are instrumental in assisting with the development of life and social skills for those in our care that reside in our OPWDD Individualized Residential Alternative (IRA) settings.

Responsibilities:

  • Participate within designated treatment teams to develop service and behavior management plans and, as appropriate, based on skills and experience, execute plans aimed to assist individuals and their families in achieving their personal goals and objectives.

  • Manage activities within an individual or group dynamic, assure the safety of the individuals assigned, and apply appropriate emergency and crisis intervention principles and techniques.

  • Proactively maintain current knowledge of the individual’s emotional/behavior status, assess the effectiveness of service plans, and support interactions with family and the local community.

  • Continually demonstrate the emotional competence and good judgment required to build productive relationships with the individuals and their families, while implementing required rules and routines.

  • Ensure the safety of assigned individuals and be thoroughly aware of all procedures relating to emergencies.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of a High school diploma or GED

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Services, Psychology, Sociology or Education, plus 2 or more years of experience is preferred

  • Must be able to work evenings, weekends and holidays

  • Must have a clean valid driver’s license and meet agency driving standards

    $15.00 Minimum Rate per hour, $21.85 Maximum Rate per hour, based on experience.
