JOB DESCRIPTION

ASSISTANT TEACHER

Essential Functions (but not limited to):

 

Assist Lead staff in the following:

 

 

  • Implementing classroom curriculum and outdoor play.   It is expected that you are familiar with the written curriculum to effectively help implement it daily.  Assistant Teachers will participate in the pre-planning process of developing afternoon curriculum by sharing ideas.

     

  • Maintaining classroom documentation: parent sign in/out log, medication log and forms, diaper log (if applicable), behavior reports, incident and injury reports, cleaning log, individualized child daily report (requested by parents), any and all other documents assigned by the Site Supervisor and/or Director

     

  • Maintaining open communication with parents regarding their child's day-to-day progress in an uplifting, positive manner.  Lead Teacher will handle any sensitive issues that may come up.  In the event the Lead Teacher cannot connect with a parent, they may ask for assistance on a "sensitive issue."

     

  • Overall and detailed cleanliness of the classroom and safety of children in their care.
