Job Description

MSS is looking for a passionate PRN Occupational Therapist for our Skilled Nursing Facility in West Pointe, MS. Methodist Senior Services is a faith-based, non-for-profit company that focuses on providing patient-centered care.

The Occupational Therapist evaluates and treats patients in accordance with orders from a physician through use of therapeutic procedures designed to address deficits in self-care skills and abilities to perform tasks in daily living and work environments and to improve independence, safety and quality of life. The Occupational Therapist ensures quality, efficient occupational therapy is provided to patients by managing the delivery of care throughout the course of treatment and delegating appropriate components of care to the Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant under his/her supervision. The Occupational Therapist participates as a member of the interdisciplinary team providing support and information within the area of occupational therapy.

Requirements

Preferred Qualifications

Prefer current registration with the American Occupational Therapy Certification Board. Current license/certification in the state of Mississippi.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational Therapy. Current license/certification in the state of Mississippi. Demonstrated competency in applying principles, methods, materials and equipment used in Occupational Therapy to the patient population served by the facility. Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills. Adequate computer skills in order to complete required job duties and computerized documentation. Demonstrated ability to assess patient needs and develop and implement a comprehensive plan of care. Knowledge of accreditation standards and compliance requirements.

Physical Requirements

Ability to walk, bend, drive, stand, sit and reach constantly during an eight (8) hour day/shift. Ability to speak and hear to understand and give directions. Visual and auditory acuity sufficient to assess and monitor patient/resident needs, maintain accurate records, understand directions and recognize people. Fine and gross motor skills. Ability to push wheeled equipment throughout the facility and in the community. Work endurance ability to work eight (8) hour days/shifts. Ability to participate in sustained activity for up to three and one-half (3.5) hours at a time. Reading and comprehension skills for analyzing reports, charts and correspondence. Possesses highly developed communication and problem-solving skills.

Additional Information

Working Conditions: Typical therapy clinic environment. Requires ability to work occasional evenings and/or weekends. Strong organizational skills in order to effectively maintain multiple projects simultaneously. Requires creativity as well as the ability to work independently. Ability to be discreet and maintain confidential information.
