Job Description

Have you ever wanted to be part of something that truly matters  Do you have a desire to help the world's best Navy  Our team is looking for a successful candidate who will work in a technically diverse and dynamic environment with a team of test sponsors, engineers and technicians. Specific duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to development of new analytical techniques to support test water analysis, investigation of metal specimen degradation, metal surfaces and water chemistry, development and maintenance of chemistry and waste management procedures, training of procedures, and the development, operations and maintenance of an analytical chemistry laboratory. The individual will be responsible for properly maintaining administrative and operational aspects of the chemistry laboratory, including the identification, characterization, and handling of emissions, discharges, and wastes to ensure environmental regulatory compliance. Required Combination of Knowledge and Skill

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in engineering or science related field and 6 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree from an accredited college or university in engineering or science related field and 4 years of relevant experience

Preferred Skills

Knowledge of analytical chemistry techniques and instrumentation including Benchtop chemistry, TIC/TOC analyzer, IC, and ICP. RCRA Hazardous waste characterization Strong technical writing skills Ability to work and communicate effectively with diverse teams Experience with chemical management and laboratory operations

Pay Range $92,900.00 - $145,200.00 annually Salary information provided is a general guide line only. Annual salary is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is operated for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) by Fluor Marine Propulsion, LLC (FMP), a wholly owned subsidiary of Fluor Corporation. Naval Nuclear Laboratory personnel are FMP employees who work at four DOE facilities: Bettis Atomic Power Laboratory, Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory, Kenneth A. Kesselring Site, and Naval Reactors Facility, and at the U.S. Department of Defense-owned Nuclear Power Training Unit-Charleston. FMP employees also have an established presence at numerous shipyards and vendor locations. For nearly 70 years, the Naval Nuclear Laboratory has developed advanced nuclear propulsion technology, provided technical support, and trained world-class nuclear operators to ensure the safe and reliable operation of our nation's submarine and aircraft carrier Fleets. The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is a national asset solely dedicated to the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program.
