Job Description

Fleet Power Plant Engineering is looking for engineers to join the USS NIMITZ Class Instrumentation and Control (I&C) Electrical Systems unit.  This position offers experience in testing, fleet support, and development of shipboard embedded I&C systems as well as operations knowledge to support the NIMITZ Class nuclear powered aircraft carriers.  The successful candidate will work in a team environment and apply their electrical/computer engineering skills in direct support of the operating fleet while also evaluating and documenting lessons to future designs and other fleet platforms.  In this position, you will develop strong systems engineering skills and be provided opportunity to directly support the NIMITZ Class project, other fleet projects, and the broader electrical community through challenging work assignments, mentoring, and training opportunities.  Specific responsibilities may include: Develop and maintain a deep understanding of the operation of a typical naval nuclear power plant and the components to provide control and safety features. Assess and recommend revisions to electrical systems, components, and procedures that are used to operate the reactor I&C systems. Utilize laboratory capabilities to troubleshoot any issues and to test shipboard systems and component revisions. Provide emergent support through analysis, troubleshooting, and direct communications with stakeholder organizations and end-users of equipment, components, or test systems. Support in-person training and familiarization for U.S. Navy operators on reactor I&C systems and principles.

Required Combination of Knowledge and Skill

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in engineering or science related field; or Master's degree from an accredited college or university in engineering or science related field.

Preferred Skills

Degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering preferred GPA 3.0 or higher on 4.0 scale Strong organizational skills Previous technical writing experience

Pay Range $62,000.00 - $94,900.00 annually Salary information provided is a general guide line only.
