Location Description Michael Foods, Inc. located in the Village of West Jefferson, OH, is located just minutes from the western suburbs of Columbus and about 20 minutes to the west of downtown. Responsibilities Assumes personal responsibility to insure a safe and healthy workplace for everyone. Adheres to all safety policies/procedures and incorporates safety and health in all job’s duties/tasks. Adheres to safe work practices, follows GMP’s, maintains sanitary conditions and ensures that product quality is maintained. Reports any conditions or practices that may adversely affect employee safety or food safety/quality to management immediately. Attends and actively participates in safety meetings/trainings. Ensures regulatory compliance at all times. Controls and monitors equipment that pasteurizes product, recording starting time, and adjusting temperature controls to bring temperatures to specified level. Recording all relevant data as it relates to processing- Control set points for various products; adjust homogenizer and PD pump settings as needed; understand relationships between temperature; time and flow and how it effects processing. Thorough understanding of glycol cooling systems and operations of same as it relates to processing Thorough knowledge of equipment and troubleshooting to correct processing deficiencies- ability to recognize and react in short time. Creates and/or maintains the required reports, logs, records and charts Alerts the Supervisor when major mechanical problems occur, and reports any system abnormalities to reduce the risk of, and damage to, the system or product Proactively coordinates with Machine Operators the status of the CIP system, to ensure the correct hook up and start time of the production line Cleans pasteurizer and pumps, and hooks up all CIP lines Actively engages in continuous improvement efforts Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications EDUCATION: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or equivalent. EXPERIENCE: LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s. Ability to perform these operations using units of USD and weight measurement, volume and distance. REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. LICENSES, CERTIFICATES, REGISTRATIONS: Examples of licenses, certificates, and registrations required: OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Specific skills and abilities required that are not included in other sections: General knowledge of chemicals Basic Computer skills, necessary to operate equipment controls Ability to plan activities and work independently Ability to communicate and get along with other employees Ability to read SOP’s Mechanical aptitude 2 + years of experience operating machinery, and handling GMP’s and product specifications
