Purpose:

The Sr Manager, Financial Planning & Analysis will be responsible for managing the preparation and analysis of quarterly results as well as the annual planning and quarterly forecasting for Athene, with a primary focus on the cost of funds (COF) process.

This role will serve as a liaison between actuarial and finance functions and will assist in providing recommendations to Athene and Apollo's senior leadership team, which will improve financial results.

Accountabilities:

  • Lead the development, and maintenance of the COF reporting tools used in the plan/forecast and actual results analysis

  • Lead the planning and forecasting meetings with actuarial functions providing actual and plan/forecast results comprising a significant portion of the COF

  • Work closely with actuarial functions to provide relevant analysis and challenge the financial plan and leading indicators to find opportunities for management to improve outcomes

  • Support the development of the planning and forecasting documents and presentation decks

  • Assist in the accumulation and development of assumptions to be used in the plan/forecast process

  • Suggest and implement planning and forecasting operational improvements

  • Assist with analysis of specific targeted line items and individual revenue and expense categories appearing in the COF

  • Assist with the planning, forecasting, and variance messaging for Athene and Apollo's executive leadership team

  • Support the creation of the quarterly GAAP earnings materials to be presented to executive leadership team

  • Help lead ad hoc financial analysis projects

  • Lead the COF team by coaching and guiding the team

  • Support corporate strategy development, execution, and monitoring with relevant variance and financial analysis

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or an equivalent combination of education and experience required

  • 5+ years of increasingly responsible financial planning and analysis experience or related field, with preference to candidates who also have experience in the insurance industry

  • 2+ years of proven leadership experience is required

  • Sophisticated knowledge of Excel required (e.g., advanced formulas, lookups, and index abilities)

  • Experience with general ledgers, databases, report writing and planning software is desired, especially Essbase.

  • Experience with actuarial concepts a plus

$105,200.00 - $157,800.00 USD Annual

Annual Salary for this role is market competitive. Actual salary for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer. Depending on the role, a discretionary bonus plan or variable sales incentive may be included.
