State of Iowa teaching license with Instructional Strategist II: BD/LD, Instructional Strategist II: ID, B-21 School Social Worker (Master’s degree in Social Work), or B-21 School Psychologist endorsement required. Board certified Behavior Analyst preferred.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Plan and provide professional development related to effective behavior strategies and/or ongoing coaching for building teachers and support staff.

  • Advocates for the needs of children.

  • Support at-risk programming from a district systemic lens.

  • Train staff in the use of Nonviolent Crisis Prevention Strategies (CPI).

  • Work directly with special education support staff to develop methods for working with special education teachers on classroom management and instruction in special education classrooms.

  • Assist in the development and implementation of behavior plans for students with intensive behavioral needs.

  • Use research-based strategies to model classroom management and instruction with students.

  • Analyze student achievement data to measure effectiveness of instructional models and strategies.

  • Works with others to solve problems in a positive and creative manner.

  • Meet regularly with special education teachers.

  • Attend and participate in designated professional learning communities.

  • Review materials and programs to provide guidance for the special education department.

  • Read current research articles and professional materials.

  • Attend in and out of district conferences as assigned by supervisor.

  • Maintain confidentiality.

  • Attend work on a prompt and regular basis.

  • Works collaboratively with all service areas.

  • Complete all training as required.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.
