Pet Palace Resort Dog Trainer, West Chester, OH in West Chester, Ohio

This position is responsible for training all dogs that come in for our multiple training programs, educating clients on Pet Palace training policies and procedures. This position requires involvement in all trainer tasks at the facility including but not limited to follow-ups with clients and enhancing training programs to drive sales.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to company methods, curriculums, and training philosophy

  • Working with the training dogs for multiple sessions per day

  • Speaking to clients about Pet Palace policies, procedures, and dog training packages/options

  • Follow all policies and procedures

  • Assist in other areas of facility as needed, including working with animal care attendants and customer service team to further their knowledge in reading dog body language and understanding animal behavior

  • Multi-task between training dogs, documenting training sessions and making client phone calls

  • Build strong, trusting relationships with new and existing clients

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma

  • Schedule availability as early as 7:00 AM and/or as late as 8:00 PM as well as some weekends

  • Previous dog training experience and knowledge of dog behavior, certification preferred

  • The Ideal Dog Trainer Candidate will have the following skills:

  • Well versed in all training methodology and theory

  • Strong customer service skills

  • Have a solid understanding of dog behavior and body language

  • Be comfortable working with dogs on basic obedience and manners, enrichment, as well as dogs with behavior concerns such as resource guarding, separation anxiety, and fear-based behaviors

  • Passionate about helping clients build a stronger bond with their canine companions

  • Capability of handling dogs upwards of 100+ pounds

  • Basic computer navigation skills and PC knowledge

  • Ability to work as a team member, as well as independently
