Minimum Hiring Wage:

Job Details:

EMT Minimum: $20.78

Paramedic Minimum: $25.14

Scheduled hours: Variable hours (7pm - 7am OR 7am - 7pm)

Job Description:

Provides advanced emergency medical treatment and transports ill or injured persons. Responsible for performance of patient care activities, documentation, daily routine operations, continuous quality improvement activities, participation in educational programs and in services as well as performance of miscellaneous related duties. Effectively interacts with the patient, significant others, and other health team members while maintaining high standards of professional care. Provides high quality emergency medical services to the following customer populations: Public; Patients; Allied emergency personnel; Students doing field internships.

Qualifications:

EMT/AEMT:

  • Graduation from a national or advanced EMT program

  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS)

  • Emergency vehicle operators course (EVOC), or must be completed at first offering

  • Maintains valid certification/license

  • National Registry EMT certification, preferred

  • EMT certification or Advanced EMT certification issued by the Iowa Dept. of Public Health required

  • Iowa chauffeur license or Illinois equivalent (EMT)

  • Iowa class C non commercial Drivers License or out-of-state equivalent (AEMT)

    Paramedic:

  • Graduation from a national Paramedic program

  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS)

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)

  • Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS), or must be completed within 2 years of hire

  • Emergency vehicle operators course (EVOC), or must be completed at first offering

  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), or must be completed within 1 year of hire

  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), or must be completed at first offering

  • Maintains valid licensure/certification/registration

  • Paramedic certification issued by the Iowa Dept. of Public Health

  • Paramedic certification issued by the Illinois Dept. of Public Health, or must be obtained within 1 year

  • Iowa chauffeur license or Illinois equivalent

  • National Registry Paramedic preferred
