Description

Are you passionate about ensuring fair and transparent procurement practices while supporting the efficient functioning of municipal operations? Join our team as a Senior Procurement Specialist and play a pivotal role in facilitating the acquisition of goods and services for various city departments.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand their procurement needs and objectives.
  • Develop and execute procurement strategies that prioritize cost-effectiveness, fairness, and compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and policies.
  • Conduct market research to identify potential suppliers and products/services that meet quality standards and budgetary requirements.
  • Solicit bids, proposals, and quotations through competitive processes to promote open competition and obtain favorable terms for the city.
  • Evaluate vendor responses and negotiate contracts to secure the best value for the city while mitigating risks.
  • Provide guidance and support to city departments on procurement-related matters, serving as a subject matter expert.
  • Maintain accurate records of procurement activities, including contract documentation and vendor performance evaluations.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, best practices, and regulatory changes affecting procurement processes.

Qualifications

Job QualificationsEducation, experience, and training that are required or desirable in order to effectively perform the job at the time of hire. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience will be considered. Additional requirements and/or substitutions may be requested and require the approval of HR.

  • Bachelors degree in Business Administration or related field required.
  • Additional experience in the field may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Minimum of four years of relevant experience is required. Experience in a public sector purchasing and contract environment is preferred.
  • Additional job-related advanced degrees or certifications may be considered in lieu of experience.
  • CPPO, CPPB, NIGP-CPP or CPSM certification desired.

Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesMay be representative, but not all-inclusive, of those knowledge, skills, and abilities commonly associated with this position. Knowledge of state and federal laws applicable to local government bids and contracts.
