Mackay Sposito Construction Inspector - Powerhouse in Wenatchee, Washington

MacKay Sposito is seeking a full time Mechanical/Electrical Powerhouse Inspector to join our team. You must be comfortable with navigating and understanding project specifications and blueprints/drawings. This position performs physical on-site observation, documentation, and inspection of hydroelectric powerhouse systems, both inside and outside the powerhouse, to assess and ensure compliance with applicable project plans, specifications, codes and regulations. Non-compliant items discovered during inspection are communicated in real time with contractors. This position also requires routine communication of project information to clients, regulatory agencies, peers, and managers.

    Keys to Success:

  • Ideal candidates will be either a journeyman wireman, millwright or craftsperson, or have a degree in engineering, construction management, and/or working knowledge of electrical generation and substation systems 

  • Ability to work under the direction of a project manager as well as alone.

  • Ability to effectively document the project through daily reports and photographs.

  • Ability to effectively communicate with the project team including the owner, construction contractor, design team, and project stakeholders.

  • Expert knowledge of construction safety regulations, safe work practices, and industrial energy isolation and lockout-tagout procedures.

  • Expert knowledge of confined space procedures.

  • Knowledge of crane rigging, hoisting, and handling protocols.

  • Knowledge of welding procedures and weld inspection techniques.

  • Ability to read, interpret, and understand construction drawings, technical specifications, and operations and maintenance instructions (OMIs)

  • Must be detail oriented.

  • Seeks continual learning and improvement.

  • Requires demonstrated success in working independently to meet deadlines, act in an Owner’s Representative role, and execute a wide range of inspection activities reliably.

  • Requires ability to maintain composure while under pressure and remain flexible despite interruptions or changes.

    Qualifications:

  • Prefer a degree in construction management or engineering degree in related field (electrical or mechanical) or journey level craft person in electrical or mechanical field.

  • Powerhouse or Substation experience required 

  • Must have proficiency in the following key areas:  Word processing, spreadsheet and email software; and higher math (trigonometry and geometry).

  • Must be able to walk, lift, carry, stoop, bend, twist and work in the outdoors on uneven surfaces routinely. Typical work day may include exposure to weather extremes and rough or uneven terrain.

  • Current driver’s license and good driving record required. Ability to be insured to drive company vehicles required.

    Please note that the salary information shown below is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as various market and business considerations.

    The wage range for this position is $35.00 - $50.00/hr depending on experience and placement in a Construction Inspector I -IV dictated by client needs/requirements. 

    Full time employees receive a  well rounded benefit package including access to our company sponsored Medical, Dental, Vision, FSA, and Supplemental Life Insurance plans. 100% company paid Life Insurance, Short Term Disability, and Long Term Disability coverage. Employees are eligible to participate in our company 401k plan with up to a 4% match Additionally, employees also receive paid vacation time, paid sick time, and 11 paid holidays. MacKay Sposito pays for expenses associated with licensure as well as annual profit sharing bonuses.
