UPMC Maintenance Supervisor- Wellsboro in Wellsboro, Pennsylvania

Purpose:

Direct and supervise daily activities of maintenance personnel on a system-wide basis to ensure the efficient and cost effective operation of the department.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate work efforts with other Maintenance Supervisor and craftsmen to achieve most effective work performance.

  • Attend and participate in departmental or system entity meetings as required.

  • Ensure compliance with Hospital, OSHA, JCAHO, NFPA and other applicable policies and standards.

  • Control job interruptions caused by emergency requests.

  • Participate in activities related to improvements in work methods and/or cost reductions.

  • Assign Maintenance employees to specific jobs, matching skills with work requested.

  • Check work to ensure that workmanship meets standards and deadlines.

  • Ensure good housekeeping practices in all shops and work sites.

  • Prepare daily, weekly and monthly reports and other written reports as requested.

  • Confer with cost center managers and supervisors as required to ensure timely completion of repairs in their work areas.

  • Carry a pager and takes on-call assignments. May be required to adjust personal schedule to meet the needs of a 24-hour a day operation.

  • Participate with other management personnel in interviewing, selecting, training and disciplining department employees for all system facilities.

  • Requisition necessary parts and materials for job completion and/or inventory maintenance.

  • Prevent work delays for such reasons as no spares, lack of know how or manpower availability through the utilization of system resources.

  • Contribute to maintenance assignments as system wide and departmental work load requires.

5 years' experience in the maintenance of hospitals, office buildings and hotels 2 years of related supervisory experience.Good working knowledge of all crafts including electrical, plumbing, carpentry and HVAC. Ability to complete work tasks typically assigned to employees supervised. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Good computer skills.May in the course of their duties be in rooms where medications are stored. No contact with medications is allowed.
