Byrne Dairy & Deli Assistant Food Service Director in Weedsport, New York

PURPOSE OF POSITON

The Assistant Food Service Director is a key member of the Food Service Department, responsible for supporting the Director of Food Service in managing the day-to-day operations of the deli and other food service areas within our convenience store locations. This role involves hands-on leadership, ensuring that high-quality food is consistently provided to customer and that company standards are maintained. The Assistant Food Service Director acts as the primary leader in the absence of the Food Service Director and is responsible for conducting inspections and audits to ensure that staff is adhering to food service policies and procedures.

EXAMPLES OF JOB TASKS

  • Specifically assisting the Food Service Director in establishing and maintaining systems and procedures for the food service department.

  • Drives Food Service sales through all means available

  • Ensures that all federal, state and company regulations and standards for product freshness, safety, refrigeration, and sanitation are met.

  • Travel to various store locations to ensure proper setup of food service areas.

  • Monitor cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of food preparation and serving areas.

  • Research and develop strategies and plans which identify Food Service opportunities and new project development.

  • Establish and implement short-and long range goals.

  • Promote positive relations with vendors and distributors.

  • Monitor and assess competition to ensure that Food Service retains an experiential advantage over the competition.

  • Works with Store Managers, District Managers to set Food Service Department budgets and merchandise department to maximize sales.

  • Trains and develops Food Service Trainers.

  • Perform all duties of the Food Service Director in their absence, ensuring the continuity of operations and decision-making.

  • Other duties as assigned

SKILLS / ABILITY TO:

  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must demonstrate strong leadership and organizational skills

  • Retail / Merchandising Experience

  • Ability to travel to various store locations.

  • Must be able to work independently, demonstrate problem solving and customer service skills.

  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Estimated annual salary: $85,000-$100,000
