McMillen Jacobs Associates Senior Electrical Engineer in Wedgwood, Washington

Design a career and build your future... Because it matters! McMillen is currently looking for an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to join our growing organization. Qualified applicants will have 15+ years of experience providing electrical engineering support for at least one of these various water resource projects including hydropower plants, dams, spillways, gate structures, pump storage, fish hatcheries, and water treatment facilities. Services performed may include electrical and control systems for water control structures such as dams, spillways, intakes and outlets, pipelines, and penstocks. Special interest is placed on experience designing for medium and high voltage switchyards; power plant substations; generators and excitation systems; generator auxiliary systems; generator buses; generator circuit breakers; unit step-up transformers; balance of plant electrical systems such as medium and low voltage switchgear, motor control centers, DC battery systems, backup generators; relay protection and control systems; grounding and lighting systems. The preferred location for this position is in Boise, Seattle, Portland, or Sacramento, but will consider remote or hybrid arrangements depending on experience. Duties and Responsibilities: Capable of responsible charge for the electrical design on large industrial projects through the schematic design development and contract document phase of a project. Attend meetings and participate in reviews with internal and client review teams. Prepare scopes, schedules, and budgets, and ensure that schedules and budgets are met. Manage projects from conception to completion. Experience with system relay protection functions and controls in substations, generation systems and industrial power distribution systems at medium and low voltages. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including architects, contractors, and other engineers. Prepare and approve engineering drawings and specifications for construction or procurement. Effectively communicate and coordinate project activities with manager, clients, and others as needed. Works independently and may direct, mentor, train, and/or supervise efforts of less-experienced EIT's and/or Designers. Conduct site inspections, field visits, and factory acceptance testing. Perform other duties as needed.
