Axiom Space Network Flight Software Engineer in Webster, Texas

SUMMARY: Our team is looking for an energetic and dynamic Network Flight Software Engineer who will primarily be responsible for designing and developing flight software for the flight-critical control network on the Axiom Space Station. This position reports to Software Team Lead . This role is onsite and will be based at our SSDF facility.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Implement IEEE 802.1 Time-Sensitive Networking (TSN) standards for a mission-critical spaceflight application.

  • Work with a team to design, develop, and test time synchronization, traffic shaping, and packet replication algorithms in an embedded Linux environment.

  • Integrate, test, and determine suitability of open-source network software for flight-critical systems.

  • Design and build functional, efficient, dependable, secure, and maintainable software.

  • Collaborate with hardware engineers on embedded network FPGA integration.

  • Give and receive productive feedback during collaboration and in design and code reviews.

  • Execute test plans and procedures in Hardware-in-the-Loop testbeds and support test automation platforms to facilitate CI/CD initiatives.

  • Implement network analysis mechanisms suitable for spaceflight application.

  • Support milestone reviews such as PDR, CDR, and SDR.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in computer science or related field.

  • 5+ years of experience developing network software in systems languages such as C or C++.

  • 3+ years of network engineering in embedded, IoT, or edge computing systems.

  • 2+ years of experience in a scripting language

  • Familiar with deterministic or fault-tolerant networking standards such as Time-Sensitive Networking (TSN), or Time-Triggered Ethernet (TTEthernet).

  • Prefer experience with Yocto, Buildroot, or similar embedded Linux Operating Systems.

  • Prefer experience with Xilinx tools (Vivado, Vitis)

  • Prefer experience with Linux Kernel device driver development.

  • Prefer experience with spaceflight or other safety critical systems.

  • Experience with utilizing source-code management systems such as Gitlab, Github, or Bitbucket in an agile environment.

Essential Functions

Work Environment: Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on the task.
