Position Summary: The Payroll Specialist is responsible for the day-to-day accurate processing and recording of company's payroll, provide timely and accurate financial information, and participate in daily data entry Payroll processing.

In this Role:
Responsible for practicing, supporting, and promoting Gun Lake Casino Resort's "Unsurpassed Service" standards at all times.
Maintain a detailed database of all Team Members in the department.
Provide administrative support to ensure the efficient operation of the Human Resources Office.
Responsible for safeguarding the assets of the Company by ensuring that all internal controls surrounding payroll are adhered to.
Prepare payroll records according to departmental and company procedures.
Ensure that payroll is for actual hours worked at the appropriate pay rate.
Maintain Team Member records in computer systems.
Communicate effectively with Team Members at all levels including educating supervisors and managers on approvals, educating Team Members on punch in/out process, and alerting managers on any issues related to internal controls.
Assist in research of Team Member’s payroll checks and provide prompt reconciliation service for all inquiries.
Process Friend of the Court Orders and Garnishments to Tribal Court.
Oversee processing and printing of payroll checks on a biweekly basis.
Reconciliation of various related payroll accounts to the general ledger, including payroll deductions for license fees, gift shop, and other Team Member payroll deduction purchases.
Maintain payroll records according to retention policies and procedures.
Process and send the payroll data to ADP as required.
Responsible for all year-end activities ensuring that W-2’s are accurate and are processed and distributed on a timely basis.
Providing reports for Human Resources, Accounting, and other departments as required.
Providing training to end-users of ADP and ensuring supervisors are auditing and approving payroll records.
Presenting Payroll information to new hires during Celebration.
Provide support for Payroll training classes and other Human Resources events.
Able to assist and support the Payroll Manager on implementations, audits and creating new items within ADP Workforce Now.
All other duties as assigned.
Essential Qualifications:
Must be 21+ years of age.
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or related field.
FPC or PPC preferred
Five (5) years of payroll processing experience for a property that comprises at least 750 Team Members.
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with Guests, Team Members, and Management in written and verbal forms.
Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Experience with ADP Workforce Now and timekeeping required.
Proven ability to work independently and in a team setting.
Proven ability to handle and maintain confidential information.
Must be able to utilize critical-thinking skills to work independently and make decisions without direct supervision.
Must demonstrate strong organizational skills; be detail-oriented, innovative, flexible, task-oriented, and able to prioritize tasks effectively.
Demonstrated ability to function in a fast-paced environment, under short time constraints, and within established guidelines.
Demonstrated knowledge of Federal and State Wage and Hour Laws.
Demonstrated presentation, organizational, and analytical skills.
Physical Requirements:
Requires normal, corrective vision range, the ability to see color, and the ability to distinguish letters, numbers, and symbols.
Ability to sit for prolonged periods while using a computer.
Must be able to lift up to 15 lbs.
Ability to access all properties and areas.
Manual dexterity to operate job-related equipment.
Work Conditions:
Work is typically in an office environment; however, additional work areas may be unusually hot, cold, and/or noisy and may contain second-hand smoke. Tasks may be performed from a sitting or non-sitting position in a confined area. Team Members may be required to stand, walk, lift, reach, push, pull, and grasp. These tasks include the maintenance and care of the assigned area. Work may entail constant contact with fellow Team Members, Management, Vendors, and Guests. High volume and fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions.
