Journeyman Electrician

A journeyman electricians primary responsibilities are to install, maintain and repair electrical power, communications, lighting and control systems. Their training and work experience allow them to professionally analyze and detect electrical problems in homes and businesses. They often work with technicians and engineers and should know how to work with indoor and outdoor electrical components, with a focus on industrial environments.

Roles and Responsibilities

The job duties and responsibilities of this position will include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Perform all electrical tasks with general supervision
  • Terminate and install electrical cables
  • Troubleshoot equipment failures using a variety of meters
  • Read blueprints, schematics, and diagrams

``` - Perform electrical tests, read results and diagnose and repair electrical problems - Thorough knowledge of various circuits - Installing or repairing faulty equipment, wiring, or control devicesPerforming preventative maintenance on variable frequency drives (VFDs), motors, pumps, generators, etc.

Requirements

Must be adept at performing a wide variety of skills, including:

  • Must have a valid South Dakota Journeyman License
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, crawl, climb, kneel, balance, push, pull and reach overhead
  • Regularly lift 51 pounds
  • Constantly moving your feet
  • Climb ladders (all types)
