Lake Area Technical College Commercial Drivers License Instructor in Watertown, South Dakota

Postion located in Pierre SD.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Commercial Drivers License Class A - Manual required. Additional endorsements preferred.
  2. Associates degree in a related field a plus.
  3. Extensive knowledge of the trucking industry with a minimum of three years driving experience.
  4. Accident-free driving record with no violations preferred.
  5. Prior teaching and curriculum development experience a plus.
  6. Computer literate including knowledge of simulation software, learning management systems, and Microsoft programs.
  7. Excellent interpersonal skills and an affinity for working with the public and Lake Area Tech staff.

REPORTS TO:Director of Corporate Education, Director of Outreach, Vice President

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Develop a vision and implement strategies to grow the CDL program to meet workforce demands in conjunction with industry partners in Pierre, SD region.
  2. Instruction in all related theory and practical skills including for credit and non-credit courses.
  3. Curriculum development using innovative technology wherever possible.
  4. Manage and oversee the maintenance of truck.
  5. Coordinate Department of Transportation inspections.
  6. Attend and participate in Lake Area Tech advisory boards of programs utilizing CDL training to guide the direction of the program.
  7. Maintain a safe laboratory and classroom environment.
  8. Assist with developing and follow the program budget in cooperation with the department.
  9. Maintain inventory and equipment, including all related documentation.
  10. Assist with student recruitment and promotion of Lake Area Technical College.
  11. This position requires an individual with an entrepreneurial mindset, capable of identifying opportunities and building a base that serves the industry of the Pierre region.
  12. Other duties as assigned.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

Part-time, temporary position. Could lead to permanent position pending customer demand.

$50 an hour up to 32 hours per week through June 30^th^. Contract may be reissued July 1^st^.
