Sonalysts, Inc. Senior Software Engineer- Modeling in Waterford, Connecticut

Sonalysts, Inc. is seeking a senior software engineer with critical thinking and effective communication skills to perform systems and software engineering functions for defense system development projects. The successful candidate will be a key contributor to the development of mission-critical, real-time military software applications and/or interfaces across all phases of the system development lifecycle.

  • Working on interesting and challenging software projects such as:

  • Modeling and Simulation of Satellite behaviors and advanced payloads

  • Modeling and Simulation of military platforms, weapons and sensor systems

  • Game-based Training Systems

  • User interface design & implementation

  • Using analytical and problem-solving skills to program in modern programming languages and operating system environments.

  • Implementing cutting edge technologies and latest techniques in modeling and simulation.

  • Participation in all areas of Development Lifecycle from Requirements Analysis through Implementation.

    Required Qualifications:

  • Must be a U.S. citizen, eligible for a U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) SECRET security clearance*

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Physics, Applied Math, and/or Aerospace Engineering.

  • Experience with a modern programming language (C, C++, C#, python, java script).

  • Minimum of eight (8) years technical experience.

  • Applied knowledge of Linear Algebra, Calculus, Differential equations, and numerical methods to create computer algorithms.

    Strongly Desired Experience/Qualifications:

  • Applied knowledge of Orbital Mechanics and/or Geospatial computing.

  • Master's degree or PhD in Physics, Applied Math, and /or Aerospace Engineering.

  • Applied knowledge of Microsoft .NET Framework and C# application development.

  • Possessing an active U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) SECRET security clearance*

  • Experience applying mathematics to software development.

  • Experience in software systems engineering experience using Microsoft’s Visual Studio Interactive. Development Environment (IDE).

  • Readiness to challenge yourself (learn and grow) intellectually as technologies advance.

  • Knowledge of modeling and simulation development, experience developing in CMMI Level 3 or higher environment, Microsoft Developer Certifications, Security+ Certification, and Network+ Certification.

  • Experience in and/or knowledge of:

  • Object Oriented Design and UML Tools

  • Multiple development languages

  • Multiple Operating Systems (e.g. Windows, Linux)

  • Architecture definition and/or software integration

  • Software development involving virtualization technology
