AMI, Inc. of Washington-Greene Counties Peer Mentor in Washington, Pennsylvania

AMI, Inc. is seeking a reliable and responsible Peer Mentor to join our team. The Peer Mentor will assist consumers with a wide range of services both on site and in the community. The PM will support the individual consumers in identifying life choices and assisting them in overcoming obstacles to achieving their personally chosen goals. This is an entry level position that provides opportunity for on-the-job training and growth under the direction of the Peer Service Supervisor, Program Director, and/or Chief Operating Officer.

 

Job Duties

• Assist peer with achieving their personal goals

• Accompany consumers to appointments at their request

• Participate in treatment team meetings as necessary

• Attend regular in-house supervision and staff trainings as required by AMI

• Contribute in housekeeping duties

 

Preferred Skills

• Strong communication and customer service skills

• Excellent time management and organization abilities

• Meticulous documentation skills with exceptional attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and precision in all records and reports

• Capable of establishing trustworthy relationships with peers and co-workers

 

Qualifications:

• Must have completed a high school diploma or equivalent

• Must possess a valid PA driver's license and be fully insurable in the state of PA

• Strongly recommended to have personal transportation and be willing to use personal vehicle for work as required

• Two years paid or voluntary work experience strongly preferred

• Must be a prior/current mental health consumer with the ability to role model recovery

• Successful candidates must undergo a drug screening as part of the hiring process and maintain a drug-free status throughout employment

• Candidates are subject to state and federal background checks (certain charges related to violence or offenses concerning the welfare of children may disqualify applicants for employment)

• Must be able to commit to the attendance of AMI's 2-week training period and 10 hours of shadowing an experienced Peer Mentor
