ManTech Virtual Technical Assessment Team Lead in Washington, District Of Columbia

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled VTAT Analyst Lead to collaborate on cutting-edge projects involving the US Navy's Aircraft Carrier Design and Systems Engineering Directorate (SEA 05V) at Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) . This position will be at the Washington Navy Yard.

Job Summary:

In this role, you will serve as a Virtual Technical Assessment Team (VTAT ) Analyst directly supporting the Nimitz (CVN68) and Ford (CVN78) Class Aircraft Carrier in-service Ship Design Managers (SDMs) and Warfare System Engineering Manager (WSEM). Furthermore, you will serve as a VTAT Analyst within the SEA 05V Carrier Engineering Team.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to :

  • Participate and coordinate technical approval letters for Ship Alteration (ShipAlts) and Technical Assessment Team (TAT) reviews for Ship Change Documents (SCDs)

  • Provide support to Virtual Technical Assessment Team (VTAT) Lead in performance of TAT duties regarding Ship Change Documents (SCDs) for Nimitz and Ford Class Aircraft Carriers:

  • Assign SCDs in a timely manner for review and comment via the Navy Data Element (NDE) Navy Modernization Entitled Process (EP) government database.

  • Prepare and maintain electronic folders and files for assigned SCDs.

  • Consolidate comments extracted from NDE EP and email to populate comment resolution forms to ensure timely submission to the VTAT Lead

  • Populate briefing sheets with the executive summary, fielding plan, and a list of reviewers; submit to the VTAT Lead

  • Maintain status of all assigned SCDs

  • Keep VTAT Lead abreast of tasking and discuss shifting priorities, if needed, identify, and discuss ways to improve efficiency and eliminate backlog

  • Provide weekly SCD Status Reports to the VTAT Lead for reporting to the Project Manager for Modernization (PMS 312E) prior to the weekly VTAT Meeting. Provide updates in the VTAT Lead's absence.

  • Coordinate with Engineering Agents, Technical Authorities, TYCOM, PMS 312, PMS 378, SUPSHIP Newport News, Norfolk Naval Shipyard (NNSY), Puget Sound Naval Shipyard (PSNS), Ship Repair Facility (SRF), & other activities to resolve technical matters.

  • Review technical data packages, drawings, reports, logistics products, training, etc. and provide technical recommendations.

  • Develop formal presentations to brief to senior officials.

Required Qualifications:

  • 3 years of experience with ship change documentation development and management

  • Experience with the CVN 68 or CVN 78 Class systems

  • Experience with US Navy vessels (preferably nuclear powered ships)

  • Good technical writing and communication skills

Desired Qualifications

  • Strong writing and communication skills

  • Worked with or at a shipyard, Naval Surface/Undersea Warfare Center (NSWC/NUWC), Supervisor of Shipbuilding Command (SUPSHIP), Regional Maintenance Center (RMC), and/or Type Commander (TYCOM) supporting construction, operation, maintenance, modernization, and/or repair of shipboard electrical systems

  • Experience working with technical authority (e.g. NAVSEA 05 and 08)

  • Experience with Ship Alteration (ShipAlts) and Technical Assessment Team (TAT) reviews for Ship Change Documents (SCDs) for US Navy Aircraft Carriers

  • Experience working with program managers (e.g. PEO Carriers, PMS 312, PMS 378, etc.) in an engineering role

Clearance Requirement:

  • An active Secret Security Clearance and U.S. Citizenship

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50%.

  • Needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.

  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine and computer printer.

  • Often positions self to maintain computers in the lab, including under the desks and in the server closet.

  • Frequently communicates with co-workers, management, and customers, which may involve delivering presentations. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.

  • May be asked to move Audio/Visual or Computer equipment.
