What You Will Do :
Guidehouse is seeking a Strategy Specialist to join our Defense and Security Segment, where they will lead strategic planning and strategy development efforts and provide project management, communications support, research, and analysis for the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Office of Trade (OT). The Strategy Specialist will support CBP sustainability initiatives, CBP systems and platform strategic efforts to support the agency’s long-term technology planning, and/or OT knowledge management efforts. This position will involve regular work with client counterparts to plan, identify, and execute on priority strategic initiatives.
The Strategy Specialist must have the following experience:
Extensive, enterprise-wide knowledge and experience, in one or more designated functional and/or domain areas (preferably, sustainability, technology, communications, or knowledge management), not including general project or program management
Recognized by industry as an expert in their specific
Provides an expert view into exceptionally complex problems and processes
Provides advise concerning strategic direction and applicability of proposed solutions
Serves as a technical expert on executive-level project teams, providing interpretation and insights regarding current and/or future structure and behavior of an organization’s processes, systems, structure, personnel – so that they might better align with the organization’s core goals and strategic direction
Prepares for and leads/facilitates both internal and external stakeholder discussions (including interviews and workshops) to inform support strategy ideation and design
Applies advanced technical principles, theories, and knowledge of a client’s mission area to enga ce the deliverables associated with a particular task order
Provides technical assistance to the team in the areas of problem definition, analysis, requirements development, and implementation for complex solutions
Project Management- Specific Experience
Leading planning, development, and execution of project tasks/deliverables and support the Engagement Manager in finalizing project tasks/deliverables.
Assisting in organizing and leading client meetings, including scheduling meetings; drafting and delivering agendas and meeting minutes; providing and archiving required documentation; and documenting, tracking, and following-up on action items.
Managing multiple, concurrent assignments, while ensuring technical accuracy, adherence to standards, and timely delivery of all products – with deliverables requiring little rework by the Engagement Manager
Communications-Specific Experience
Developing strategic communications on policy for audiences that include federal partners, partner governments, and private industry
Organizing and preparing for workshops between CBP and industry, CBP and other federal government agencies, or both – with tailored stakeholder engagement
Creating and developing social media content and asset strategy to communicate federal trade policy through official CBP channels.
Assisting in public relations development to strategically amplify the customer’s messaging
Research Experience
Performing industry benchmarking, and benchmarking against other federal government agencies’ processes, policies, operations, etc.
Conducting environmental scans and analysis to inform strategy planning and execution
Research private sector and attend industry events to brief CBP leadership on industry trade and sustainability practices.
What You Will Need :
US Citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a federal Public Trust
Bachelor’s degree and at least 5 years of relevant experience OR Master’s degree and at least 2 years of relevant experience
What Would Be Nice To Have :
Proficiency in Microsoft Suite applications including SharePoint
Excellent communication skills across all levels of business, both written and verbal
Ability to adapt quickly and develop successful professional relationships with key stakeholders
Experience conducting interviews or gathering feedback from external stakeholders
Experience working in DHS or CBP preferred
