We are looking for a smart, creative, and passionate Senior Network Security Engineer to help continue improving our information security posture at CoStar Group. You will engage with all departments of CoStar Group helping drive and shape the way we manage the protection of our customers and our ever-growing data environment. We’re looking for someone who can communicate and reinforce security concepts to technical and non-technical audiences within the CoStar Enterprise.

The ideal candidate will have experience engineering and operating secure networks – both in the cloud and on-premise. The successful candidate will be a self-starter motivated to learn new technologies and tools and assist in moving security forward as it is implemented within the CoStar Enterprise.

This position can be located in Washington, DC or Richmond, VA and offers a hybrid schedule of 3 days in office and 2 days remote.

Responsibilities

  • Provide engineering expertise to ensure changes to the enterprise network are designed and implemented in a secure manner

  • Audit existing design and infrastructure configurations and recommend changes to improve security posture

  • Evaluate firewall change requests – both on-premise and in the cloud

  • Design, enforce, and audit policy for various blades of a Next Generation Firewall (NGFW), load balancers, routers, switches, Wi-Fi controllers, etc.

  • Tune and keep updated the Intrusion Prevent System (IPS)

  • Use security tools to audit infrastructure, detect issues and coordinate remediation of any issues (including vulnerability management)

  • Perform security review and ensure proper monitoring/logging - including permissions of users, open ports/services, and overall network setup

  • Assist with the creation of SIEM signatures to detect anomalous or known malicious network related events

  • Conduct threat hunting in the CoStar enterprise

  • Participate in 24x7 on-call rotation

  • Follow, develop, and improve network and security configuration policies, standards, and procedures

  • Assist with the move towards a zero-trust methodology

  • Design, implement, and audit controls for Kubernetes networking

  • Design and strengthen AWS network security posture including inspection of east/west and north/south traffic.

  • Lead the creation of a secure and automated certificate management solution

  • Work to disable insecure and outdated network protocols and cipher suites and create/enforce an enterprise wide standard for TLS

  • Work with other teams to remediate discovered deficiencies

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree required from an accredited, not for profit university or college

  • A track record of commitment to prior employers

  • One or more security and network certification such as SANS/GIAC, CISSP, CCNA, etc.

  • 6+ years in Information Security

  • Scripting/programming skills (Perl, Python, PowerShell)

  • Experience with AWS networking – including NACL’s, security groups, NLB’s/ALB’s, transit gateway, and AWS Network Firewall

  • Experience with Next Generation Firewalls, Web Applications Firewalls, Network and Application Load Balancers

  • Expert knowledge of subnetting and segregation of networks

Preferred Qualifications And Skills

  • One or more security and network certification such as SANS/GIAC, CISSP, CCNA, etc.
