We are currently seeking a Professional Writer/Copy Editor with 5+ years of experience to join our team and fully embrace our commitment to deliver, grow and thrive .

About the Role:

As a Professional Writer/Copy Editor supporting our Federal government client, you will be trusted to provide high-level writing and editing support for all project team- and client-developed program documents, including reports, presentations, articles, and publications, as well as educational materials.

Key Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):  

  • Support the creation of original content such as articles, blog posts, reports, educational materials, or other written materials according to client requirements.

  • Review and revise content for clarity, coherence, accuracy, grammar, spelling, punctuation, style, and consistency.

  • Conduct research to gather information, verify facts, and ensure the accuracy and credibility of the content.

  • Carefully review and correct errors in grammar, spelling, punctuation, and formatting to ensure final products are polished and error-free.

  • Develop and implement content strategies aligned with the goals and objectives of the client.

  • Work closely with other team members to develop content effectively.

  • Manage time effectively to meet deadlines and deliver high-quality content on schedule.

  • Adapt writing style, tone, and voice to suit different audiences, platforms, and communication objectives.

  • Communicate clearly and effectively with clients, stakeholders, and team members to understand requirements, provide updates, and address feedback.

  • Maintain awareness of industry trends, best practices, and new technologies to continuously improve writing and editing skills.

  • Ensure that content complies with relevant laws, regulations, ethical standards, and client guidelines, such as Section 508 compliance.

  • Be open to constructive criticism and feedback and use it to improve writing and editing skills.

    Location:

    You will work as part of a dynamic team remotely.

    Required Experience/Skills: 

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university

  • 5+ years of experience

  • Proven professional work experience as a staff writer with a demonstrable portfolio of   professional documents

  • Ability to write in styles consistent with the Chicago Manual of Style, Associated Press Stylebook, and DHS standard style and branding

  • Ability to understand complex documents and translate into easily consumable articles for the public

  • US citizenship and the ability to pass public trust clearance or suitability

    Preferred Experience/Skills:

  • Master’s degree from an accredited college or university
