Summary GPO employees possess a diverse array of talent in many administrative fields and trades. We provide other agencies with innovative services for the printing, publishing, storage, and distribution of digital content. This position is part of the Chief of Staff, Government Publishing Office in Washington, District of Columbia. Responsibilities Take photographs for print and online communication products. Products include a monthly newsletter, various social media platforms, GPO’s internal and external websites, and an internal messaging systems. Take official executive portraits, cover visiting dignitaries, and cover GPO news and related special events. The position requires photographing large employee events and working with itineraries and objectives. Work closely with GPO’s Communications staff, reviewing draft text of articles to determine ideal locations, settings, lighting, and poses. Provide related support in creating digital photo galleries and suggest visuals to accompany GPO products. Catalog images for a stock photo database Skill in scanning historical photos and journals and preparing the electronic files for digital posting as well as archiving. Create attractive digital galleries of images on the Intranet and GPO’s internal messaging system. The Photographer will use Color Management Software and hardware to calibrate all displays and printers. Stay abreast of technological advancements in all aspects of the field, from equipment through software (editing and DAM). Maintaining skills in these rapidly evolving technologies. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications To qualify for the Photographer, PG -1060-11, you must meet the following requirements: At the PG-11:To qualify for the , PG-1060-11, you must meet the following requirements: Incumbent must have at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the PG-9 or GS-9 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience photographing high level officials or dignitaries and large employee events; experience directing a photoshoot (poses, lighting, places), experience with image processing, including using Photoshop and other software to edit and refine images; and experience with shooting/editing videos and creating digital galleries online. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. All qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement(06/25/2024) to be considered. The background investigation covers a period of seven to ten years depending on the nature of the position; this process may take 6 weeks or longer.
