Linux Engineer

  

Primary Place of Performance: Washington, DC

Mandatory Requirements: U.S. Citizenship and DOD Secret Clearance 

Years of Experience: 6-10 years

Currently is seeking a talented and motivated Linux Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be part of a team of network, system and security engineers tasked with the remediation of existing network equipment and upgrading to new equipment. If you are passionate about networking, have the requisite and are looking for an opportunity to grow within a dynamic organization, this position may be for you.

We are looking for a Senior Linux Systems Engineer with a minimum of 6+ years' experience. Bachelor's or Master's degrees are preferred with a background utilizing the following:

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Linux including Red Hat and its derivatives (centOS, RHEL, RockyOS).

  • Experience in shell scripting and manipulating the Linux command line.

  • Experience providing Linux Administration support Experience providing engineering infrastructure support in large scale enterprise server environments.

  • Experience providing technical guidance in software engineering techniques and automated support tools.

  • Experience with the following languages: Python, Ruby, Bash, PHP.

  • Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS), CloudFormation, Google Cloud and Microsoft Azure.

  • Experience with configuration management software (e.g., Ansible, Puppet Manifests and Foreman).

  • Experience with cloud computing, including PaaS, IaaS and SaaS.

  • Experience with CaaS (e.g., Kubernetes and OpenShift).

Duties to Include but not limited to:

  • Perform systems engineering and software development in multiple large enterprise server environments (e.g., Linux, Red Hat and CentOS).

  • Assist in establishing standards for information systems procedures.

  • Perform technical evaluations and analysis.

  • Support the customer in the development and maintenance of systems baseline.

  • Assess server loads and work with technical leads to develop tuning recommendations.

  • Complete day-to-day Operations & Maintenance tasks.

  • Perform operating system software updates, upgrades and patches.

  • Travel: Up to 10% travel required and the ability to travel on short notice .

  • Additional duties, as assigned.

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Preferred 6+ Years within Linux enterprise environment.

  • Bachelors/Masters preferred or 10+ years of experience with required certifications.

  • Minimum DOD 8570 IAT II Certifications  (Ex. Sec+, CISSP, GCIH, CYSA+).

  • Preferred to have CompTia Linux+, Red Hat RHCSA, RHCE, RHCA, SUSE Certified Administrator SCA, or SCE.
