Truth Initiative Junior Graphic Designer in Washington, District Of Columbia

The Junior Graphic Designer is a member of truth’s Marketing Department, a 20-member team which directs all marketing initiatives for the organization truth® campaign. This person will report directly to the in-house Art Director.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES (*ESSENTIAL DUTIES):

  • Brainstorming and designing compelling creative content for advocacy campaigns (e.g., point-of-sale transactions, campuses going tobacco free, flavored tobacco products, etc.).

  • Be able to turn around creative on short notice when opportunities arise to launch quick activations and rapid responses based on the campaign.*

  • Assist our design team in building and reproducing graphics for landing pages, banner ads and other interactive elements.*

  • Be able to help create compelling content for TikTok and Instagram as needed - this role will assist in the production of social media content, so a working knowledge of creating for both platforms will be extremely useful.

  • Marry copy with art that drives actions down truth’s conversion funnel from initial “sign-up” to actual activation.

  • Assist in designing materials for print/on-the-ground activities such as poster-boards, merch, etc.*

  • Ensure all creative is engaging, impactful, and relevant to GenZ, built around an emotional core but in line with truth® campaign (@truthorange / thetruth.com) brand guidelines.

  • Other duties as needed.

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.

  • 1-3 years’ experience for another national nonprofit/cause-based organization such as truth® campaign and/or Advertising agency/ Design firm writing experience will also be considered.

  • Experience in digital media.

  • History working as a graphic designer – experience as an in-house/agency designer or as a freelance designer will be considered.

  • Experience with or a willingness to learn HTML5 ad design is a plus.

  • Strong skills in Adobe Creative Suite -- especially Photoshop/Illustrator.

  • Ability to work under pressure on multiple projects and short deadlines.

  • Ability to work collaboratively and be open to creative feedback.

  • The ability to work independently and efficiently on concurrent projects and with internal staff and outside partners/vendors is a requirement.

This position is based in Washington, D.C. with a hybrid work schedule of 3 days in the office and two telework days.

COMPENSATION PACKAGE:

The salary range for this role is starting at $ 58,000-$65,000 on a national basis. Individual pay decisions are based on a number of factors, including but not limited to qualifications for the role, relevant work experience, skillset, internal equity, location, and certifications, consistent with applicable law. Salary is just one part of our total rewards package which additionally includes equity, performance bonus for eligible roles, and competitive benefits.
