JOB DESCRIPTION

Summary:

The General Laborer Civil is responsible for providing wide ranging labor support services to the foreman, supervisors or other designated persons to perform various hands-on duties including but not limited to: handling construction materials, shoveling, flagging, setting up and tearing down work sites.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Mix concrete and mortar,
  • Prepare new construction sites by digging, moving dirt, or compacting space,
  • Assists in building scaffolding and/or other temporary structures,
  • Grade dirt and concrete efficiently and accurately,
  • Install and tie rebar and wire mesh,
  • Unload tools, prepares building site materials, stacks building materials, and sets up equipment,
  • Assist in job site traffic control set-up and down to adhere to the project specifications to eliminate hazards,
  • Assists with the setup, operation and maintenance of message/arrow boards,
  • Follow project instructions from construction foreman and/or supervisor,
  • Direct traffic and pedestrians safely around the construction or road maintenance site,
  • Safely operates a variety of tools including pressure washers, jackhammers, drills, saws, grinders, and blowtorches,
  • Cleans and clears debris and hazardous materials from jobsite,
  • Ensures construction equipment and tools are cleaned and stored properly,
  • Must wear proper attire at all times including: safety vests, safety glasses when appropriate, long pants, hard sole/close-toed shoes, and reflect a clean and presentable image,

Job Requirements:

  • 0 (zero) to 1 (one) year of construction experience or similar,

``` - Must be 18 years of age or older, - Must be able to work independently and/or as a part of a team, - Possess a positive attitude and work ethic, - Strong verbal communication skills, - Focus on safety of self and co-workers at all times, - High school diploma or equivalency is desired,

``` - Flagger certification desired, - OSHA 10 hour preferred, - COVID-19 vaccination highly recommended, - Must be able to successfully pass a background and drug and alcohol screening.
