Disney Entertainment Associate Manager, Social Media – TV Brand & Special Projects (National Geographic) in Washington, District Of Columbia

As the Associate Manager, Social Media - TV Brand & Special Projects (National Geographic) you will assist in overseeing strategic and creative social campaigns for National Geographic’s title and editorial pages. You will also be responsible for assisting managers and senior managers with brand campaigns and other content development projects from production to launch - with a focus on best-in-class creative social stunts, community engagement strategy, as well as creative asset development and delivery. Additionally, you’ll have an eye towards editorial and always-on social executions.

We are looking for a passionate digital strategist who has experience with social marketing campaigns, agency work [either with or at] and managing busy timelines. Excelling in this role requires a knowledge of what is trending/current on social, a passion for learning about strategy and planning for insights-driven global strategies, a deep and current knowledge of each platform's offerings, how to best utilize influencers, a keen eye for compelling and innovative content and creative and excellent project management skills. You will work with and on key social media and digital platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, Threads, YouTube, Reddit and Snapchat as well as seek out emerging platforms that can help grow our fan base and brand.

Responsibilities:

  • Partner closely with the marketing team to create high-impact, conversation-driving social Nat Geo brand and title campaigns

  • Develop and implement platform strategy for @NatGeoTV and @NatGeoWILD on Threads, continuously developing engagement-driving tactics and content that are optimized for text-based social platforms while also supporting strategy for other key @NatGeoTV, @NatGeoWILD and @NatGeoDocs platforms

  • Facilitate content production for @NatGeoWILD, taking ownership of operational needs and supporting creative execution with agency partners

  • Partner with YouTube manager to promote YouTube original content across social platforms

  • Support in management and growth on Nat Geo editorial accounts

  • Advise on, communicate and implement best social media practices and cultural landscape as it pertains to the title.

  • Leverage analytics in continuous data-backed decision-making to evolve social media campaign tactics

  • Support social managers and senior managers on editorial, magazine and show projects

  • Partnering with the broader marketing title teams on talent social training, on-set social capture, live social media event coverage, digital activations and paid media creative, influencer activations etc.

  • Work closely with marketing to create high-impact moments around title debuts, announcements, press etc.

  • Facilitate creative development of social content through the pipeline including giving creative direction and notes, along with securing final approvals and sign-off

Basic Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of social media marketing experience

  • Team-first mentality

  • Deep understanding of social platforms

  • Creative, proactive and independent thinking

  • Ability to prioritize, multi-task and meet deadlines

  • Strong creative writing skills

  • Effective communication skills in both verbal and written form

  • Ability to build and manage relationships

  • Extreme attention to detail

  • Proficiency with Airtable, Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Keynote

  • Experience with social media content management systems

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience shooting and editing social-first content in a field-based environment

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field of study or equivalent work experience
