Georgetown Univerisity Assistant Athletic Trainer in Washington, District Of Columbia

Requirements

Under the direction of the Associate Athletics Director for Student Athlete Health & Wellness, the Assistant Athletic Trainer provides student-athletes with initial injury and illness evaluations, referrals, follow-up evaluations, wound care, injury treatment, emergency cardiac care with AED and other emergency care, injury rehabilitation, taping and bracing, and over the counter medicines. The incumbent maintains accurate, complete, and timely documentation of medical records and injury documentation for each student-athlete treated. Adhering to the Sports Medicine Policies and Procedures and the NATA Code of Professional Conduct, additional duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide student-athletes with initial injury and illness evaluations, referrals, follow-up evaluations, wound care, injury treatment, emergency cardiac care with AED, and other emergency care.

  • Manage injury rehabilitation, taping and bracing, and over the counter medicines, helping with treatments like electrical stimulation, microcurrent stimulation, ultrasound, therapeutic massage, cryotherapy, and thermotherapy.

  • Perform injury rehabilitation and reconditioning, including therapeutic exercise such as TheraBand strengthening, core stability training, re-education of joint kinesthesia and proprioception, muscular reeducation, isotonic and isokinetic strengthening.

  • Serve as an athletic trainer for sports as assigned, effectively carrying out all necessary athletic training duties including practice and competition coverage, emergency and non-emergency medical care, injury evaluation, documentation, and rehabilitation.

  • Present at home and away competitions and practices when needed.

  • Perform additional administrative duties that may include, but are not limited to, managing inventory and purchasing, coordinating processing of student-athlete health insurance claims with the Athletics Business Office, organizing student-athlete physicals, administering the drug education program, and managing the student worker program.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred

  • Current NATABOC certification with the criteria for certification as established by the NATA with respect to CEU’s

  • Meets criteria for District of Columbia Athletic Training Licensure

  • Ability to work confidently in a crisis or emergency situation and demonstrate knowledge of safety practices

  • Knowledge of University and Department philosophies, policies and regulations

  • Strong organizational skills with knowledge of NCAA regulations

  • Ability to make administrative/procedural decisions and judgments

  • Strong interpersonal skills that demonstrate an ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community

  • Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing with the ability to foster a cooperative work environment

  • Valid driver’s license with good driving record; must be insurable with availability weekends and evenings

  • Proficient in computer use and relevant Microsoft applications

  • Background check completed as a condition of employment with Georgetown University

Pay Range:

The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is:

$41,926.00 - $65,090.00

Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University’s business needs and external factors.
