Dynamic Integrated Services (DIS) is seeking a 508 Compliance Specialist - Department of Homeland Security (DHS) certified Trusted Tester to join our Strategic Communications and Integrated Marketing Practice. The 508 Compliance Specialist will support our clients by providing Section 508 compliance testing, evaluation, analysis, or error remediation of electronic documents, websites or applications, multimedia, or eLearning courses to ensure compliance with federal accessibility rules and regulations. The 508 Compliance Specialist must have a thorough understanding of Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and related laws and apply this knowledge to create strategies and processes for ensuring maximum accessibility of client deliverables in addition to remediating products for compliance.

Essential Duties

  • Have a thorough understanding of Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and related rules and regulations.
  • Establish processes for analysis, testing, and remediation of electronic documents,websites, web hosted applications, mobile apps, multi-media, eLearning courses, and others as necessaryto meet accessibility standards.
  • Prepare accurate Accessibility Conformance Reports (ACR) or Voluntary Accessibility Product Templates (VPAT) demonstrating accessibility levels of deliverables.
  • Monitor and stay up to date with the latest industry trends, advancements in technology, and evolution of federal accessibility rules, regulations, and guidance.
  • Review, test, and fix 508 compliance errors on deliverables such as PDF, PPT, Excel, and Word documents.
  • Serve as subject matter expert on 508 issues; participate in working groups and/or meetings with stakeholders to discuss requirements and/or present 508 solutions; and provide guidance on technical issues involving Section 508 related to accessible documents and electronic media.
  • Think critically and apply customer and industry insight to solve client problems creatively and quickly.

Required Experience and Qualifications

  • DHS Trusted Tester (Program V5)
  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field
  • Min. 2 years of relevant experience
  • Understanding of Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973
  • Experience with Accessibility Conformance Reporting Tool (ACRT), Adobe Acrobat Pro and Acrobat Accessibility Checker
  • Experience withCommonLookand JAWS (or similar screen reader technology) for 508 compliance testing.
  • Experience testing for and fixing 508 compliance errors.
  • Ability to organize, coordinate, and deliver multiple complex projects/priorities?and keep themondeadline.
  • Strong work ethic with a commitment to client service excellence
  • Applicants must have the legal right to work in the US for any employer as sponsorship is not available for this position.
  • Ability to obtain a US government security clearance.?
  • Preference will be given to qualified Veteran candidates.

Preferred Experience and Q alifications

  • 508 Compliance Certification
  • Understanding and experience implementing compliance for the 21stCentury Integrated Digital Experience Act, WCAG 2.0, Department of Veterans Affairs Website Accessibility Act of 2019, and Plain Writing Act of 2010
  • Prior government consulting or contractor experience
  • Experience in health, benefits, IT communications and/or with Veteran and/or military audiences.
