Job Title: Senior Software Developer/Database Administrator

Job Summary:

This position is in support of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Federally Funded Research and Development Program Centers (FFRDC). The FFRDC mission is to advance technical and analytic capabilities to help keep America safe.

In this key role, you'll bring recent demonstrated experience in managing and executing systems engineering-based solutions across multiple projects. Your expertise in systems analysis, design, and programming, along with extensive knowledge of SharePoint and large relational databases, will be instrumental in driving innovation and efficiency in our software development and database administration efforts.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Developing software solutions by studying information needs, conferring with users, studying systems flow, data usage, and work processes, investigating problem areas, and following the software development lifecycle

  • Determining operational feasibility by evaluating analysis, problem definition, requirements, solution development, and proposed solutions

  • Performing database frontend and backend development, administration, and maintenance, ensuring smooth functioning and optimization of knowledge management and report development

  • Refining and analyzing frontend and backend requirements based on business processes and policies

  • Collaborating with teams to enhance internal and external-facing dashboards and streamlining data entry automation processes

  • Providing real-time troubleshooting and support to federal staff and support team members

  • Staying updated on software development best practices, technologies, and trends to drive continuous improvement and innovation.

    Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university

  • Secret clearance

  • 7+ years of experience serving as a senior member of a software development team

  • An expert understanding of software architecture

  • Experience leading development of software solutions by studying information needs; conferring with users; studying systems flow, data usage, and work processes; investigating problem areas; following the software development lifecycle

    Desired:

  • 10+ years of experience serving as a senior member of a software development team

    Work Setting and Environment:

  • Monday - Friday, normal working hours

  • Work is to be performed remotely

  • Must be able to report onsite in the DC area for meetings
