Danaher Corporation Director/Senior Director, Science and Technology (S&T) in Washington DC, District Of Columbia

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Establish understanding of the roles of Generative AI, Data Science and Machine Learning in the Life Sciences and Healthcare areas and develop innovation strategies and executable approaches by identifying early stage companies for minority investing, creating partnerships with academia institutions, create new companies through external partnerships and work with Danaher companies to create internal partnerships to create impactful value to Danaher and new breakthrough technologies.

  • Take leadership of building an innovation pipeline across Asia in the cross-section between Generative AI, Data Science and Machine Learning with Genomic Medicine, Next-Generation Bioprocessing, Human Systems R&D and Diagnosis. Manage the identification, evaluation, cultivation of potential partners.

  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders to ensure the business invests in technologies and capabilities needed to stay ahead of the competition and maintain/gain S&T leadership in areas of strategic importance

  • In collaboration with internal stakeholders, develop business cases and obtain approval and budget allocation to ensure the business invests in technologies and capabilities needed to stay ahead of competition and maintain/gain S&T leadership in areas of strategic importance. In collaboration with business partners, manage projects post-approval, monitor progress and develop reports-out to ensure success, i.e. on budget and on time, and ensure visibility across businesses and internal stakeholders

  • Lead and coordinate strategic partnerships with key academic centers across Asia to improve S&T innovation pipeline success for Danaher and develop an engagement and partnership strategy with innovation hubs, including academic centers, consortiums, and incubators.

  • Develop research plans that could lead to the creation of novel IP and in collaboration with R&D leaders in OpCo’s and Platform CTOs, develop a framework and standard work procedures to successfully identify and prioritize opportunities for improvement and innovation in our S&T and innovation portfolio

  • Cultivate network of external academic KOLs/institutions/science parks to access strategic technology/innovative concepts and lead and coordinate the development of research plans in collaboration with our academic collaborators, and define a clear milestone-based execution and funding strategy.

  • Develop Key Performance Indicators and novel metric models to evaluate the success of innovation strategies and return on investment

The essential requirements of the job include:

  • 8+ years of experience in Digital and Data Sciences as it pertains to Diagnostics/clinical research, early development, and Pharmaceutical/Biotech/ Life Science industries.

  • Experience post advanced degree in Innovation Strategies/New Concept Creation & Prototyping/Investment/New Venture creation in academia and industry settings. Graduated from a top international university, preferably with overseas study or work experience.

  • Extensive global exposure, including study, post-doctoral work, and/or professional experience. Relevant experience in venture capital, M&A, strategy development

  • Deep understanding and proven experience in leveraging and sourcing technologies in Generative AI, Data Science and Machine Learning in the Genomic Medicine, Next-Generation Bioprocessing, Human Systems R&D, Diagnosis areas across Asia

  • Proven experience in Program Management and Alliance Management processes for internal and external R&D activities. Proven experience in driving technological due diligence, valuation, and licensing deals

  • Proven track record in leading, managing and driving innovation initiatives for multiple technologies at various stages of development

  • Outstanding conversational, presentation, and written communication skills. Ability to synthesize multiple data points to create strategic point of view that can be communicated in a simple message. Fluent in English.

  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and mobilize people across the organization, and learn quickly and thrive in a fast-paced environment. Ability to negotiate and executed in/out-licenses and service agreements

  • Has established networks across scientific/biotech/pharma/academic communities and has knowledge of the leading innovation ecosystems.
